# Big O Tires: Warranty, Pro-tec+, Coupons and Who Owns the Chain

> Big O brand tires get 3 years of free road hazard and defect replacement, then prorated cover. What Big O's warranty sheet, price match and card terms say.

## The short version

- Every Big O Tires store is owned and run by a franchisee. The brand belongs to Big O Tires, LLC, a TBC Corporation subsidiary, and Michelin’s 2025 annual filing lists a 50% interest in TBC, which Michelin says it runs jointly with Sumitomo Corporation.
- Big O brand tires come with 3 years of free replacement for road-hazard punctures and defects, then “limited prorated” cover until the tread reaches 2/32 inch or the tire is 6 years old. The prorating formula is printed on the back of the store invoice, not online.
- “At no charge” does not include fitting. Installation charges apply again when a tire is replaced, plus a 10% shop fee of up to $35, a new-tire fee and a disposal fee.
- Other brands carry their maker’s warranty plus free rotation every 5,000 miles and free flat repairs. Pro-tec+ adds road hazard cover to them, at a price Big O does not publish.
- The roadside benefit runs 36 months from the invoice: a spare fitted at no charge up to $75, other help paid by you and reimbursed up to $75. The 12-month, 12,000-mile repair warranty is made by the store that did the work, not by Big O Tires, LLC.
- Coupons are dated promotions that vary by store. The standing programs are a price match against a local competitor’s written quote and a store card from Comenity Capital Bank whose special financing is deferred interest.

Big O Tires is a chain of franchised tire and repair shops. Each store is owned by a local franchisee, under a brand owned by TBC Corporation. What warranty you get depends on the tire. Big O’s own-brand tires come with 3 years of free road hazard and defect replacement and a roadside benefit; other brands carry their maker’s warranty plus free rotation and flat repair, and Pro-tec+ can be bought on top. On 9 October 2026 we read Big O’s warranty page, its tire warranty sheet (revision 04/2019), its roadside statement and its repair-warranty certificate, its price guarantee, credit, about and contact pages and its Terms of Use, along with TBC’s releases and Michelin’s 2025 Universal Registration Document. This site has no commercial relationship with Big O Tires, TBC or any tire maker.

**Figure: Which Big O promise applies, by tire and situation**

A two-column table of seven situations: a road-hazard puncture in a Big O brand tire in its first 3 years is replaced at no charge, but installation charges and a 10% shop fee of up to $35 apply; after 3 years, while the tire has more than 2/32 inch of tread and is under 6 years old, cover is limited and prorated by a formula printed only on the invoice; a non-Big O tire without Pro-tec+ gets the maker’s warranty, free rotation every 5,000 miles and free flat repairs; Pro-tec+ on such a tire is road hazard cover sold as a service contract with no published price; a flat on the road within 36 months gets a spare fitted at no charge up to $75, other help reimbursed up to $75; a failed brake or air-conditioning repair is covered 12 months or 12,000 miles by the store that did it, tires excluded; and no Big O warranty transfers to another owner or vehicle.

## Who owns Big O Tires, and who you deal with at the counter

Big O began as a buying group. Its About page says the story “begins back in 1962,” when independent tire dealers “came together to form a tire-buying cooperative,” and that “in 1996, Big O Tires joined forces with TBC Corporation.” TBC’s release of 14 January 2026 describes the company today: “Big O Tires, LLC, a subsidiary of TBC Corporation, has nearly 470 franchise stores in the United States.” TBC has since sold other chains to Mavis, NTB and Tire Kingdom (agreed in 2023) and Midas (2025); see our [Mavis Tires](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/mavis-tires/) and [Midas](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/midas/) pages.

TBC itself has two owners. Michelin’s 2025 Universal Registration Document lists TBC Corporation at a 50% interest. A Michelin [press release](https://www.michelin.com/en/publications/finance/tbc-corporation-to-divest-its-retail-network-and-to-focus-on-wholesale-distribution-and-franchise-businesses) of 23 May 2023 names the partner: Michelin “jointly operates TBC Corporation” with “Sumitomo Corporation.” We did not read Sumitomo’s own announcements: its robots.txt, the file that tells automated readers what they may read, bars AI readers such as ClaudeBot from its news pages.

TBC has sold the stores it owned outright. Its release of 22 May 2023 announced an agreement for Mavis Tire Express Services to buy 595 NTB and Tire Kingdom stores, and on 16 June 2025 TBC said it had “completed the divestment of its Midas franchise portfolio to Mavis” and would keep “expanding its Big O Tires franchise business.” On 9 October 2026, requests to ntb.com and tirekingdom.com were redirected to mavis.com, which matters for Big O’s older warranty sheet below.

None of that is who you buy from. Big O’s page footer says “Big O stores are independently owned and operated by Big O franchisees,” and its documents spread the other side of each promise across several parties:

**Who stands on the other side of each Big O promise, in Big O’s own documents (read 9 October 2026)**

| What you are relying on | Who the document names |
| --- | --- |
| The sale, the fitting and the store’s prices | The franchise store: “independently owned and operated by Big O franchisees” |
| The tire warranty sheet | No legal entity; it sends you to “the back of your Big O Tires invoice for complete warranty details” |
| The 12-month, 12,000-mile repair warranty | “the Independent Repair Facility” named on the invoice; “not a warranty of Big O Tires, LLC” |
| Roadside assistance | An Auto Knight Motor Club benefit “provided to You by the Big O Tires facility from which You purchased Your tires” |
| The Big O credit card | “issued by Comenity Capital Bank” and “valid at participating Big O locations” |
| The website and its terms | TBC Corporation: binding arbitration before JAMS and Florida law |

The [Terms of Use](https://www.bigotires.com/terms-of-use) (“Last Updated: 2.5.2026”) cover the website, sending claims about it to individual arbitration under Florida law. A tire you buy is governed by the paperwork the store hands you, so keep the invoice and read both sides.

## The warranty on Big O brand tires: 3 years free, then prorated

Big O’s own-brand tires are the ones with the most cover. The two-page sheet behind the warranty page’s “Download complete tire warranty PDF” link (marked WarrantyPad/Rev.04/2019) says “Every new Big O brand tire (with the Big O name on the sidewall)” comes with this package:

- **Road hazards, 3 years.** “If your Big O brand tire suffers a non-repairable puncture due to a road hazard during the first 3 years of service, we’ll replace it at no charge.*”
- **Defects, 3 years.** The same wording for “a non-repairable defect in workmanship or materials.”
- **After 3 years.** “Limited prorated repair or replacement” cover “for road hazards or workmanship and materials for the useful life** of the tire.”
- **Rotation and balancing.** “We’ll rotate and rebalance your tires every 5,000 miles for the useful life** of the tire.”
- **Flat repair.** “If we sold it, we’ll repair it!” to the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association’s puncture repair procedures.
- **Roadside help, 3 years**, covered in its own section below.
- **A mileage warranty** with the number left blank: “covered by a limited mileage warranty for __________miles.” The store fills it in.

The two asterisks lead to the definition that sets the end of the cover: “Useful life of the tire means more than 2/32 of an inch of remaining tread groove depth or six years from the date of the original purchase of the tire, whichever comes first.” Read by its end points, cover stops when the tread reaches 2/32 inch or when the tire turns 6 years old from purchase, whichever happens first. A tire that keeps its tread could get at most 3 years of prorated cover after the free 3, by our arithmetic; one that wears fast gets less. Our guide to [reading tread depth](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-long-do-tires-last/#tread-depth) shows how to check where a tire stands.

What the prorated phase pays is not on any page we read. The sheet says “Please refer to the back of your Big O Tires invoice for complete warranty details,” and that invoice back is not published. Tire makers that prorate charge you for the share of tread used, but they apply it to different prices, as our [comparison of makers’ prorating terms](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/tire-manufacturer-warranties/#proration) shows. Ask the store which price Big O’s formula uses before you rely on it.

The current [warranty page](https://www.bigotires.com/warranty-info) describes the Big O brand cover under the Pro-tec+ name. It says Big O “proudly offers Pro-tec+ for free on all Big O branded tires” and lists what comes with it: free flat repairs, “Up to $75 Free Roadside Assistance,” free rotations and balancing, a 3-year road hazard repair or replacement warranty and a 3-year workmanship defect warranty. It does not mention the prorated years or the mileage warranty, which only the sheet covers.

## What “at no charge” leaves out: fitting, shop fee and disposal

The single asterisk after “we’ll replace it at no charge” leads to a footnote that appears on the sheet and again on the warranty page:

> “Installation charges (mounting, initial balance and valve stems) apply at the time of purchase and at the time of tire replacement, and may vary by location. Local or state new tire fee extra. Tire disposal fees extra. Plus 10% shop fee based on pre-invoiced retail price, not to exceed $35 on installation charges.”

So a free replacement tire still comes with a bill for fitting it. Big O prints no installation price, and charges “may vary by location,” as you would expect of separately owned stores. The shop fee is the one printed figure; by our arithmetic it stops rising at $350 of installation charges.

**A free Big O replacement is free for the tire, not the job.** Big O’s own footnote says mounting, balancing, valve stems, the shop fee, new-tire fees and disposal fees apply “at the time of tire replacement.” Get the per-tire installation charge in writing at purchase, and ask whether it applies again to a warranty replacement.

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over a mounted tire mark the tread, a groove and the wheel, with Big O's free replacement for a non-repairable puncture, where a tire's useful life ends, and who its warranties stay with.

Big O’s tire warranty sheet, read on 9 October 2026, replaces a Big O brand tire with a non-repairable puncture in its first 3 years, with installation extra (callout 1), ends a tire’s useful life at 2/32 inch of tread or 6 years from purchase (callout 2), and limits its warranties to the first buyer and vehicle (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

The sheet also calls both 3-year promises “FULL”: a “3-YEAR FULL REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY” and a “3-YEAR FULL REPLACEMENT WORKMANSHIP & MATERIALS WARRANTY.” That word has a meaning in federal law: under [15 U.S.C. 2303](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCODE-2024-title15/html/USCODE-2024-title15-chap50-sec2303.htm), only a written warranty that meets the federal minimum standards is designated “full”; others are a “limited warranty.” The standards in [15 U.S.C. 2304](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCODE-2024-title15/html/USCODE-2024-title15-chap50-sec2304.htm) include three that touch Big O’s footnotes:

- **Without charge.** The warrantor “may not assess the consumer for any costs the warrantor or his representatives incur in connection with the required remedy.”
- **Later owners.** The duties “extend from the warrantor to each person who is a consumer,” which section 2301(3) defines to include “any person to whom such product is transferred during the duration” of the warranty. Big O’s warranties “apply to the original purchaser only.”
- **The label sticks.** If a supplier designates a warranty “full,” it is “deemed to incorporate at least the minimum requirements of this section” in any lawsuit under the Act or state law.

Whether the footnotes and the “full” label fit together, and whether a road hazard promise is a written warranty under [15 U.S.C. 2301](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/2301) at all, are questions for the Federal Trade Commission, your state attorney general or a lawyer. For a buyer the point is simpler: the sheet uses the word “full,” so keep it with the invoice.

## Other brands: the maker’s warranty plus free rotation and flat repair

Most tires Big O sells are not its own brand, and for those the warranty is the tire maker’s. The warranty page lists four things for “Other new tires (non-Big O brand)”: the maker’s limited workmanship and materials warranty, a limited mileage warranty, “Free Rotation Every 5,000 Miles” and “Free Flat Repairs for Useful Life of the Tire.” Our page on [tire manufacturer warranties](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/tire-manufacturer-warranties/) sets out what twelve makers’ booklets promise and require.

Three things are missing next to the Big O brand package: balancing is not on the list, there is no road hazard cover unless you buy Pro-tec+, and there is no roadside benefit.

**What comes with a new tire at Big O, by brand, as Big O’s warranty page and 2019 sheet print it (read 9 October 2026)**

| Promise | Big O brand tire | Other brand, no add-on | Other brand with Pro-tec+ |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Defects | 3 years free replacement, then prorated | The maker’s limited warranty | Web page lists a 3-year workmanship defect warranty |
| Road hazards | 3 years free replacement, then prorated | None | Repair, or 100% of the “reasonable cost” of a replacement (2019 sheet) |
| Rotation | Rotation and rebalance every 5,000 miles | Rotation every 5,000 miles | “Free Rotations & Balancing” (web page) |
| Flat repair | Free for the useful life | Free for the useful life | Free |
| Roadside help | 36 months, $75 caps | None | Included (“the Tire Protection Package”) |
| Mileage warranty | Big O’s, number written in by the store | The maker’s | The maker’s |

Rotation records matter for a mileage claim, and Big O gives two intervals. The sheet and the warranty page say every 5,000 miles; the tire services page advises rotation every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. The maker’s booklet decides what its mileage warranty needs, so follow the shorter schedule and keep every invoice; our guide to [rotation intervals](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/tire-rotation-cost/#interval) has more. You can see the maker’s terms first: under [16 CFR 702.3](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2025-title16-vol1/xml/CFR-2025-title16-vol1-sec702-3.xml), for products “actually costing the consumer more than $15.00,” the seller must make the warranty text “readily available for examination by the prospective buyer.”

Some services are free whatever you drive on: a tire pressure check (“for free!”), a “free alignment check” that is a visual inspection, and a “Multi-Point inspection” the About page calls “Free of charge.” Big O also fits tires bought elsewhere, at a price it does not print. A free check is not an alignment; see [when an alignment is due](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/wheel-alignment-cost/#when-to-align).

## Pro-tec+ and the Tire Protection Package: road hazard cover you pay for

For other brands, road hazard cover is an add-on. The warranty page calls it Pro-tec+, “Automatically included with a set of Big O brand tires or available for purchase with any other set of brand new tires.” The 2019 sheet and the About page use an older name, the Tire Protection Package (TPP), and the sheet describes what it pays:

> “Tire Repair: If the tire(s) is/are repairable, you are covered for the reasonable cost of repairing the tire. … Tire Replacement Benefit: If the tire(s) is/are unrepairable, you are covered for one hundred percent (100%) of the reasonable cost of the replacement tire(s). There are restrictions and limitations. Please see the full service contract for all details.”

That last sentence is the key one. The sheet sells the package under a service contract, which federal law defines in 15 U.S.C. 2301(8) as “a contract in writing to perform, over a fixed period of time or for a specified duration, services relating to the maintenance or repair (or both) of a consumer product.” Our page on [why a service contract is not a warranty](https://baronauto1.com/financing/is-an-extended-warranty-worth-it/#not-a-warranty) explains the difference. The current warranty page still uses the old name in its roadside paragraph, so treat Pro-tec+ as the same kind of contract until the store shows you otherwise. Big O publishes neither the contract nor a price, so its term, exclusions, who pays a claim and what “reasonable cost” means stay unknown until you ask for the paperwork.

## Roadside assistance: what the $75 covers, and what you pay first

The roadside benefit comes with Big O brand tires and with the add-on. Its one-page statement calls it an “Auto Knight Motor Club, Inc. Roadside Assistance Benefit” provided by the store that sold the tires. The rules:

- **How long.** “thirty-six (36) months” from the invoice date, for the original purchaser and the vehicle on the invoice, which must show a purchase of at least $25.
- **A flat.** Fitting your spare is “at no charge to You, up to a maximum of $75. You are responsible for any and all charges over $75.”
- **Everything else.** For the 4 other services (towing, lockout, fuel, oil, fluid or water delivery, and a jump start) “You must pay for the services,” then “You will be reimbursed for covered services up to a maximum of $75.00 per occurrence.”
- **Only through the program.** “Service secured through any other source will not be reimbursed,” and the driver must be with the car.
- **Claim in time.** Within “ninety (90) days of the date of service,” with both invoices.
- **Not covered.** Tire repair or replacement at the roadside, “A second tow or service for the same disablement,” and trailers, motorcycles, recreational and commercial vehicles.

The warranty page sums this up as “Up to $75 Free Roadside Assistance” and 24/7 help “as a free bonus.” Only the spare-tire fitting is free at the roadside; the rest is a reimbursement after you pay, and anything above $75 a call is yours. Ask the dispatcher for the price before agreeing to a long tow.

**Don’t go to the roadside website printed on the sheet.** The 2019 warranty sheet says to “Visit www.bigoroadside.com for details.” On 9 October 2026 that address served a copy of Big O’s roadside text ending “This is a free demo result from the Wayback Machine Downloader.” We could not tell who runs it. Use the phone number on your Big O statement or invoice.

## The 12-month, 12,000-mile repair warranty, and who stands behind it

Big O’s About page says “we back every tire and service with” its “12-month/12,000-mile Nationwide Limited Repair Warranty.” The certificate, dated “Service Warranty 10/2012,” says who actually makes it:

> “This Limited Warranty is made by the Independent Repair Facility (‘Facility’) that is so named on the original repair invoice and performed the service/repairs on your vehicle. … This limited warranty is not a warranty of Big O Tires, LLC or Automotive Business Solutions, Inc. (‘ABS’) … In addition, ABS. serves as the administrator only.”

So the promise is the store’s. It covers 14 kinds of work, among them air conditioning, cooling, brakes, starting and charging, exhaust, steering and suspension, “for 12 months or 12,000 miles of use, whichever comes first,” so cover ends at whichever limit you reach first. Other services carry “a 3-month or 4000 mile warranty” at the store that did them and are not covered nationwide; the nationwide cover is 4 times as long and 3 times the mileage, by our arithmetic. Excluded outright: “ANY ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, OR DIFFERENTIAL REPAIRS,” and “AUTO BODY PAINT, MOLDING, TIRES, GLASS REPAIRS AND USED PARTS.” For brake work, our [brake pad replacement cost guide](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/brake-pad-replacement-cost/) covers what the job involves.

Where you claim depends on distance:

- **Within 25 miles** of the store that did the work, you “must return your vehicle” there with the repair order.
- **More than 25 miles away,** you “must call the Warranty Administrator prior to any repair work being performed.” Big O’s warranty page says that besides its 460+ locations you can use “the nearest of 35,000 participating facilities that honor our warranty.”
- **At a shop outside the program,** you may pay and claim “within 90 days of the date of repair.”
- **If the car will not move** and you are more than 25 miles out, towing benefits run “to a maximum of $75.00,” and a rental car for up to “2 days at a maximum of $40.00 per day,” or $80 in all by our arithmetic.

The certificate is for “the original purchaser, and not to anyone who may purchase your vehicle,” and it warns that store staff “do not have authority to modify the terms of this limited warranty nor to make any promises in addition.” If a warranty repair does not cure the fault, the period is extended when you tell the administrator about it “within 60 days after they were completed.”

## Big O coupons, the price guarantee and the Big O credit card

Big O’s deals page, “Tire Coupons, Specials & Promotions,” listed on 9 October 2026 tire makers’ mail-in or online rebates, instant savings on two makers’ tires, a buy-three-get-one offer on one brand, a credit-card rebate and special financing. Each has its own end date, and the home page adds “To see more offers for your location,” so offers depend on the store. We leave out the amounts because they change fast. Ask which offers the store takes, and have any discount written on the quote.

Two programs are standing rather than dated. **The [Lowest Tire Price Guarantee](https://www.bigotires.com/lowest-tire-price-guarantee)** is a price match: bring “a current, local advertisement or written estimate” and “We’ll match the total price.” The terms narrow that:

- **Same tire, local rival, before you buy.** “identical tires that have the same brand, style and speed, load index & mileage rating,” quoted by “a local competitor prior to purchasing the tires.”
- **Tire price only.** “Installation cost not included in the comparison,” despite step two’s “total price.”
- **Not every seller or store.** It “does not apply to online retailers, commercial or fleet accounts, or Big O stores that do not offer the Lowest Tire Price Guarantee.”
- **Not every price.** “Financing or store card offers, warranties, bundle offers, free items, pricing errors, blemished tires, rebates, clearance, or out of stock or other similar discounts not eligible.”

Because installation is outside the match, compare full quotes yourself: tire, installation, shop fee, state fee and disposal.

**The Big O Tires and Service Credit Card** is a store card “issued by Comenity Capital Bank” and “valid at participating Big O locations,” says the [credit page](https://www.bigotires.com/credit). Prequalifying uses “A soft inquiry,” Big O says. Its special financing is deferred interest:

> “Interest will be charged to your Account from the purchase date if the promotional plan balance is not paid in full within the promotional period. … Minimum payments are NOT guaranteed to pay the promotional plan balance within the promotional period.”

The standing account terms are printed with a date: “As of 09/2026, terms for new Accounts: Purchase APR of 35.99%. Variable Penalty APR up to 39.99%,” a minimum interest charge of $3, a promotional plan fee of 2% and $2.99 a month for paper statements. Miss the promotional deadline and interest is charged from the purchase date. If you are not approved, “Other financing options are available,” at the store and “not available in all markets”; the page does not name them.

## Big O’s terms beside Discount Tire, Walmart and Tire Rack

This table compares what each seller prints, not prices, and does not rank them. The other columns come from this site’s readings of [Discount Tire’s Certificate contract](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/discount-tire-warranty/) and [Walmart’s tire warranty terms](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/walmart-tires/#road-hazard) on 7 October 2026 and [Tire Rack’s road hazard terms](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/tire-rack-review/#road-hazard) on 8 October 2026. Our [Les Schwab tires](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/les-schwab-tires/) page reads another chain’s terms.

**Who makes the promise, whether it passes to the next owner, and who pays to fit a replacement, as each seller prints it (Big O read 9 October 2026; Tire Rack 8 October 2026; Discount Tire and Walmart 7 October 2026)**

| Term | Big O Tires | Discount Tire | Walmart | Tire Rack |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Whose promise it is | Repair warranty “made by the Independent Repair Facility”; roadside provided by the store that sold the tires | The Certificate’s provider, Discount Tire Certificate, LLC | “This warranty is backed by Walmart” | Road hazard obligor: Nation Motor Club, LLC in most states |
| If you sell the car | “All Big O Tires warranties are nontransferable” | “non-transferable, except in North Carolina” | Protects “the original purchaser” | No transfer; selling the car ends cover |
| Fitting a replacement tire | Installation charges apply “at the time of tire replacement,” plus a 10% shop fee of up to $35 | Contract prices the replacement at the original price paid plus sales tax; labor not mentioned | Free replacement “except for installation cost and applicable taxes” | Pays “the cost of the tire only,” not mounting or balancing |

On transfer the four line up: each limits cover to the first buyer in the text we read, with Discount Tire’s North Carolina exception. Where Big O differs is the first row. Its written repair warranty is made by the store, a separately owned business, rather than by a national company, and its tire warranty sheet names no company at all. The certificate says it “may be honored by other facilities participating in this program”; it does not say what happens if the store that made it closes, so ask before you buy.

## Where Big O’s own documents disagree

We recorded 9 places where Big O’s pages, its 2019 sheet, its 2012 certificate and TBC’s releases differ; the roadside website above is one. The others:

- **Where the warranty is honored.** The sheet says “over 1,200 Big O Tires, Tire Kingdom and NTB locations.” TBC agreed in 2023 to sell NTB and Tire Kingdom to Mavis. Don’t count on those stores honoring a Big O warranty without asking.
- **How many stores.** “over 450 locations in 25 states” on the About page, “460+ locations” on the warranty page, “nearly 470” in TBC’s January 2026 release and “nearly 500” on TBC’s history page and in its June 2025 release, a spread of 50 stores by our arithmetic.
- **The add-on.** Pro-tec+ on the web page bundles five items; the 2019 sheet’s Tire Protection Package is “road hazard protection” under a service contract.
- **Who backs the repair warranty.** “we back every tire and service” on the About page; “not a warranty of Big O Tires, LLC” on the certificate.
- **Free roadside help.** “Up to $75 Free Roadside Assistance” on the warranty page; on the roadside statement only the spare-tire fitting is free, and for the rest “You must pay.”
- **“Full” and “at no charge.”** The footnotes add installation charges at replacement and limit cover to “the original purchaser only.”
- **Rotation.** Every 5,000 miles on the sheet and warranty page; every 5,000 to 7,000 miles on the services page.
- **Price match.** “We’ll match the total price”; “Installation cost not included in the comparison.”

The repair certificate dates from October 2012 and the tire sheet from April 2019. Where a page and the printed paperwork disagree, the paper you are handed at the store is what a claim will be argued over, so ask for it.

## Before you buy tires at a Big O store

Register the tires. Big O says “you’ll receive a mail-in registration card,” which you can mail or replace with online registration, so the maker can reach you in a recall. Under [49 CFR 574.8](https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2025-title49-vol7/xml/CFR-2025-title49-vol7-sec574-8.xml), one of the options an independent dealer has is to hand you a paper form on which it “has recorded” “The entire tire identification number of the tire(s)” and its own name and address; another is for the dealer to send the form itself “at no charge to the tire purchaser and within 30 days.” With a card, sending it is up to you. NHTSA says manufacturers “will notify registered owners by first class mail within 60 days of notifying NHTSA of a recall decision,” and its [recall lookup](https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) covers tires as well as vehicles. - **Ask for the back of the invoice** before you pay; Big O says the complete tire warranty terms are printed there.
- **Get the installation charge per tire in writing,** and ask whether it applies again to a warranty replacement, plus the 10% shop fee and disposal fee.
- **Check the mileage warranty number** written on the Big O sheet for a Big O brand tire.
- **For Pro-tec+ on another brand,** ask for the service contract, the per-tire price and when cover ends.
- **Bring a written local quote** for the identical tire if you want the price match, and confirm the store takes part.
- **For special financing on the card,** divide the balance by the months in the promotion and pay at least that each month; the minimum payment may not clear it.
- **Save the roadside number** from your statement or invoice, not the website on the 2019 sheet, and claim within 90 days.
- **Send the tire registration card,** and keep every rotation invoice for a mileage claim.

## Common questions

### Who owns Big O Tires?

Big O Tires, LLC is “a subsidiary of TBC Corporation,” TBC said in January 2026. Michelin’s 2025 Universal Registration Document lists a 50% interest in TBC, and Michelin says it jointly operates TBC with Sumitomo Corporation. Each Big O store, though, is “independently owned and operated” by a franchisee.

### What does the Big O Tires warranty cover?

Big O brand tires: free replacement for a non-repairable road-hazard puncture or defect for 3 years, then prorated cover to 2/32 inch of tread or 6 years, plus rotation, flat repair and roadside help. Other brands: the maker’s warranty, free rotation and flat repairs. Installation charges apply on any replacement.

### Is the Big O Tires warranty transferable?

No. Big O says “All Big O Tires warranties are nontransferable and apply to the original purchaser only and only if the tire is on the vehicle on which it was originally installed.” The roadside benefit and repair warranty follow the same rule.

### Are there Big O Tires coupons?

Big O’s deals page lists dated promotions, mostly makers’ rebates, instant savings and card offers, which vary by location. There is no standing coupon; the standing programs are the price guarantee and the store card.

### Does Big O Tires price match?

Yes, at participating stores, against a local competitor’s current ad or written estimate for an identical tire, shown before you buy. Installation is not part of the match, and online retailers, rebates and clearance prices are excluded.

### Who issues the Big O Tires credit card?

Comenity Capital Bank. As of September 2026 the printed purchase APR for new accounts was 35.99%, with a penalty APR up to 39.99%. Its special financing is deferred interest: if the promotional balance is not paid in full in time, interest is charged from the purchase date.
