# Kwik Kar: Oil Change, Texas Inspections, Warranty and Owner

> Kwik Kar prints no oil-change price or written warranty. What its oil change includes, Texas emissions tests since 2025, coupon fine print and who owns it.

*Detailing & Maintenance · 22 min read · 4,928 words*

## The short version

- Kwik Kar prints no price for an oil change, an inspection or a repair. Its store FAQ says costs “vary” and to ask for an estimate; coupons are a “Discount off regular price” on “Up to 5 quarts,” with taxes and disposal fees extra where permitted.
- Texas dropped safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. In 17 counties an emissions test is still required before registration, and Texas DPS caps the station’s charge at $18.50 in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.
- Kwik Kar publishes no written warranty: no months, no miles, no claim rules. Its sister brand Grease Monkey prints 3 months or 3,000 miles. Ask for the terms on your invoice.
- Kwik Kar belongs to MidOcean Partners through FullSpeed Automotive. Its franchisor’s disclosure document counts 26 outlets run by an affiliate and 89 licensed outlets, all in Texas, and no franchises; a 2026 filing says none had opened by the end of 2025.
- The kwikkar.com locator lists 26 Texas stores; no document says whether the licensed shops honor the website’s coupons, vouchers or Rewards.
- Kwik Kar’s pages disagree on the basics: a “16-Point” or “20-Point” oil change, and free top-offs of “½ pint,” “½ quart” or “for up to 3,000 miles.”

Kwik Kar is a Texas oil-change and auto-repair brand: drive-in oil changes, Texas emissions tests and repairs such as brakes, batteries and alignments. What you get and pay depends on which shop you visit, because the 26 stores on kwikkar.com sit beside a larger group of licensed Kwik Kar shops the website does not list. On 10 October 2026 we read kwikkar.com’s service, coupon, store, fleet and terms pages; FullSpeed Automotive’s Kwik Kar page; the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) of Kwik Kar Franchising, LLC issued April 3, 2025, and Minnesota’s May 18, 2026 order cancelling its registration there; and the Texas DPS and TxDMV pages on inspections. This site has no commercial relationship with Kwik Kar, FullSpeed or any oil brand.

**Figure: What Kwik Kar’s documents and the Texas agencies say, by situation**

Ten situations a Kwik Kar customer in Texas meets, each answered from kwikkar.com’s pages and terms, the April 3, 2025 Kwik Kar Franchise Disclosure Document, or the Texas DPS and TxDMV pages.

Read from kwikkar.com, the Minnesota franchise registry, dps.texas.gov and txdmv.gov on 10 October 2026.

## Which Kwik Kar is this? The 26 on kwikkar.com and the licensed shops

There are two kinds of Kwik Kar. The [kwikkar.com locator](https://kwikkar.com/locations/) shows “26 locations,” all in Texas, in 20 cities, most of them Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs (Irving and Plano have three stores each). The FDD counts more. Grease Monkey International, LLC (GMI), an affiliate of the franchisor, bought the Kwik Kar trademarks from Kwik Industries, Inc. in 2022 and “also acquired from KII 56 license agreements under which licensees operate automotive service centers under the Kwik Kar trademarks.” It “currently has 89 Kwik Kar licensed outlets, all located in Texas.” Separately, GMI itself ran 26 Kwik Kar outlets at the end of 2024. By our arithmetic that is 115 Kwik Kar outlets in the April 2025 FDD, against 26 on the locator.

The locator’s 26 equals the FDD’s count of GMI-run outlets. No document says they are the same 26 stores, but the match suggests the website lists the shops the owner runs and leaves the licensed ones off; the FDD names no licensee and does not describe the licenses. It matters because each kwikkar.com coupon lists the stores that take it, and the website terms say vouchers and gift certificates are “redeemable at all Kwik Kar Auto Repair locations” without saying whether a licensed shop counts. Our reading: if your Kwik Kar is not on the locator, treat its prices, coupons and any guarantee as that shop’s own, and ask before relying on anything printed on kwikkar.com.

## What a Kwik Kar oil change includes

The [oil-change page](https://kwikkar.com/services/oil-change/) has Kwik Kar’s longest list: change oil “(up to 5 quarts),” install a new filter, lubricate the chassis, check the air and cabin air filters, “Visually Check Brake Fluid,” check and fill power steering, battery, differential, transmission and washer fluid, check the coolant level and wipers, set tire pressure, check the exterior lights and clean the front windshield. That is 16 items. How many “points” the visit has depends on the page:

**How Kwik Kar’s own pages count the oil change (read 10 October 2026)**

| Page | What it calls the oil change | Items it lists |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Home page, services page, every service page | “16-Point Oil Change” | None |
| Oil-change page | “our signature 16-point inspection” | 16 |
| About page; FullSpeed’s Kwik Kar page | “Our signature 20-Point Inspection is included with every oil change” | None |
| Store locator | “a fast 20-point oil change” | None |
| Store FAQ (Plano and Sulphur Springs pages) | “A Kwik Kar multi-point oil change” | 15 |

The store FAQ’s 15 drop the cabin air filter, say “Check/test battery” instead of checking battery fluid, and “Wash exterior windows” instead of cleaning the windshield. No page lists 20 items. Use the 16 as your checklist.

The oil-change page offers full synthetic, synthetic blend, high-mileage (for “vehicles with 75,000+ miles”) and conventional oil, and the store FAQ says Kwik Kar “uses motor oils that match your owner’s manual recommendations.” No page names an oil brand; have the specification written on the invoice. The page’s interval advice, full synthetic “5,000 to 7,500 miles” and a synthetic blend “every 3,000 to 5,000 miles,” yields to your owner’s manual; our page on [what sets the oil change interval](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-often-to-change-oil/#what-sets-it) explains why. The fleet page says an oil change takes “about 15 minutes”; the store FAQ says “between 15-20 minutes.”

### Free top-offs: three different promises

- **Oil-change page:** “We check and top off all your vehicle’s vital fluids (up to ½ pint).”
- **Store FAQ:** steering, washer and transmission fluid, “up to ½ quart of these fluids between oil changes,” with tire pressure “(at participating locations).”
- **About page:** “a fluid top-off, like washer fluid or coolant, free for up to 3,000 miles after a qualifying service.”

Half a quart is twice half a pint, by our arithmetic. No page says what a “qualifying service” is or how many top-offs you may claim. A car that keeps needing fluid between visits has a leak or a consumption problem; our guide to [finding fluid leaks](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/car-fluid-leaks/#cardboard) starts with cardboard under the car overnight.

## How Kwik Kar shows prices, and why there is no menu

No Kwik Kar page we read gives a price, a starting price or a range for any service. The store FAQ says: “Oil change costs vary depending on the quantity of oil needed, the type of oil filter used, and the oil type recommended for your vehicle’s make and model. Call or drop by your local Kwik Kar for an estimate from one of our certified technicians.”

The fine print shows how a bill is built. The oil-change coupon reads: “Discount off regular price. Up to 5 quarts. Not Valid with other oil change offers. Charge for additional parts/services, if needed. No cash value. Taxes and/or disposal fees extra, where permitted.” The voucher terms add that a promotional oil change “does not include sales tax and shop supply fee” and that “Additional charges will also apply for premium oil and premium oil filters.” So five things can sit on top of a quoted oil change: extra quarts, a premium oil or filter, other parts, tax, and a disposal or shop supply fee. No page says what any of them costs.

**Ask for the out-the-door total before the work starts.** Give the oil type your manual calls for and the quarts your engine takes, ask whether the filter is standard or premium, and ask whether a shop supply or disposal fee will be added. A coupon is a discount off a regular price that is not printed anywhere.

The FDD lets the franchisor set “minimum and maximum resale prices” only for multi-area marketing programs and special promotions, and no franchised center had opened by the end of 2025. Expect two Kwik Kars to quote different totals for the same car.

### The one dated figure on spending: the FDD’s 2024 tickets

Item 19 of the FDD groups the 24 affiliate-owned centers that ran all of 2024 by sales and prints an “Average Ticket” for each group, from $97.78 to $110.83, and a “Median Ticket” from $101.15 to $110.07. The widest “Ticket Range” runs from $59.82 to $147.48. What separated busy centers from quiet ones was mainly traffic: the “Average Daily Vehicle Count” ran from 14 in the smallest group to 42 in the largest.

Four limits apply. The figures come from GMI’s own statements and “have not been audited or reviewed by an independent certified public accountant.” They leave out two outlets converted from another brand during 2024. The FDD does not define “ticket”; we read it as one bill per vehicle, add-ons included. And they describe 2024: they are not a price for any service today.

## Coupons, discounts, vouchers and Rewards: the standing rules

Every coupon we saw on 10 October 2026 carried a “Redeem By” date, so we quote no amounts. The [coupons page](https://kwikkar.com/coupons/) showed six: full-service oil change, preventive maintenance, military, rideshare, brakes and mechanical services. The amounts change; the rules below do not.

**Where a coupon is good.** Each coupon box says “Valid at participating locations nationwide” under its date, while several disclaimers in the same boxes say “Valid at listed location only,” and each box lists the stores that take it. On 10 October 2026 the lists ran from 2 stores to 28. The 28 include two stores, in Pearland and Webster, that have no page on kwikkar.com. Read the list, not the word “nationwide.”

**The conditions.**

- **Oil-change coupons:** “Up to 5 quarts,” “Not Valid with other oil change offers,” taxes and disposal fees extra.
- **Military and rideshare:** the fine print opens “With ID,” and other boxes say “ID required at time of purchase.”
- **Seniors:** the store-page coupon says “55+ only” and “Valid at listed location only.”
- **Preventive maintenance:** covers add-ons such as oil system cleaner, wipers, bulbs, filters, fluid exchanges and fuel system cleaning, and “Excludes: Oil changes, Batteries, Tire Services, Brakes, Engine Repair, Mechanical Services, Emissions Testing, State Inspections.”
- **Mechanical services:** “Excludes: Oil Changes, Radiator Service, Batteries, Tires, and Emissions.”
- **By text:** a texted coupon “must be presented at time of estimate,” with “Only one coupon code per transaction,” and none is valid with “warranty work.”

Both store pages we opened list four discount groups under “Our Discounts”: Military, Lyft Driver, Uber Driver and Fleets, with no amounts; the amounts exist only on dated coupons.

### Vouchers, gift certificates and Rewards

The [kwikkar.com Terms & Conditions](https://kwikkar.com/terms-conditions/) cover only these three programs:

**Kwik Kar’s voucher, gift certificate and Rewards terms (Terms & Conditions page, read 10 October 2026)**

| Program | What the terms say |
| --- | --- |
| Vouchers bought online for more than one oil change | “will not be available for use for 7 days from date of purchase”; photo ID “may be required” |
| A voucher’s promotional value | Expires 12 months from purchase; after that the price paid can go “toward any Kwik Kar Auto Repair goods and services” |
| The voucher itself | Expires “five calendar years after the date of purchase”; “Lost or stolen voucher is non-refundable”; a reprinted e-voucher fails if someone redeems the original first |
| A promotional oil change | Five quarts; premium oil and filters extra; not for diesel; excludes sales tax and the shop supply fee; not combinable |
| Gift certificates | Expire five calendar years after purchase; no cash value; may be invalidated after a chargeback or returned check |
| Rewards | “Earn 1 Reward Point per dollar spent,” not on buying gift certificates or pre-purchased oil changes; only toward “a future purchase”; not transferable; “Employees and fleet accounts are not eligible”; may be revised or cancelled “at any time without prior notice” |

The terms give a point no stated value, and “The decision of Kwik Kar management in the interpretation of this program is final.” Photograph any voucher code when you get it.

## Texas state inspections at Kwik Kar since January 1, 2025

The Texas state inspection rules changed. TxDMV’s [registration page](https://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/register-your-vehicle) says: “As of January 1, 2025, non-commercial vehicles are no longer required to obtain a safety inspection prior to vehicle registration.” Texas DPS says the change came from House Bill 3297, signed in 2023, “abolishing the Vehicle Safety Inspection Program for non-commercial vehicles.” What remains is an emissions test in 17 counties: Brazoria, Collin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Ellis, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Johnson, Kaufman, Montgomery, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis and Williamson. Commercial vehicles still need an annual commercial inspection in every county.

**What Texas requires before registration, and the most a station may charge (TxDMV and Texas DPS, read 10 October 2026)**

| Your vehicle | Inspection needed | Most the station may charge (DPS) | State fee at registration (TxDMV) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Non-commercial, registered in El Paso, Travis or Williamson county | Emissions test (gasoline vehicles two through 24 years old) | $11.50 | $2.75 Emissions Inspection Fee |
| Non-commercial, registered in the other 14 emissions counties (DPS’s “DFW/Houston” group, by our reading) | Emissions test (same age rule) | $18.50 | $2.75 Emissions Inspection Fee |
| Non-commercial, registered anywhere else in Texas | None | Not applicable | None for an emissions test |
| Commercial, any county | Annual commercial inspection | $40.00 | The state’s portion, collected at registration |

DPS’s [cost of inspection page](https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/vehicle-inspection/cost-inspection) calls its amounts “the maximum charge for each inspection type”; at the station, TxDMV says, you pay “only the inspection station’s portion of the fee.” By our arithmetic, a Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston driver pays at most $21.25 for the emissions test, $18.50 at the station plus $2.75 at registration. That is a legal ceiling, not a Kwik Kar price; Kwik Kar prints none. Our page on [what a car inspection costs](https://baronauto1.com/buying-guides/how-much-does-a-car-inspection-cost/#state-test) compares other states.

The store FAQ says “Kwik Kar performs state inspections at participating service centers, including vehicle checks and emission tests,” and both store pages list “TX State Inspections” as an amenity and carry a panel headed “Vehicle Inspections Are Gone, But Emissions Live On.” The [inspection service page](https://kwikkar.com/services/inspections/) has not caught up: it offers an inspection for “your annual check” and a safety check of “Brakes, horn, seatbelts, mirrors, and windshield wipers,” without mentioning the change. For registration, a private car needs at most the emissions test.

### How the emissions test works, and how to avoid a pointless fail

For 1996 and newer vehicles the Texas test is an OBDII computer scan. DPS’s [emissions testing FAQ](https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/vehicle-inspection/faq/emissions-testing) describes three checks: the check engine lamp must light when the ignition is turned on and go off when the engine starts; if the computer is commanding the lamp on with a stored trouble code, “the vehicle will fail”; and the readiness monitors must have run. A 2001 or newer car may have one monitor “Not Ready” and pass, but two or more fail it (for 1996 to 2000 models, two pass and three fail).

The catch is how monitors reset. DPS says they go back to Not Ready when codes “have been cleared with a scan tool or if battery power has been disconnected,” and only a “drive cycle” of city and highway driving sets them Ready again. Kwik Kar sells battery replacement and check-engine scans at the same counter as the emissions test; if either was just done, drive normally for a while before the test. Our page on [readiness monitors](https://baronauto1.com/vehicle-history/emissions-check-by-vin/#readiness) goes deeper; DPS’s list of common fail causes starts with catalytic converter failure and a faulty gas cap (see [catalytic converter symptoms](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/symptoms-of-a-bad-catalytic-converter/#check-engine)). Keep the Vehicle Inspection Report; TxDMV accepts it at renewal if the state’s system cannot verify a pass.

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over the photograph mark a warning lamp, the odometer display and a hazard lamp, each with one fact from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s emissions rules.

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s emissions-testing pages, read on 9 October 2026: Emissions test fails if this lamp stays lit with a stored trouble code (Texas DPS) (callout 1); Battery disconnected or codes cleared? Monitors reset; 2 Not Ready fail a 2001+ car (callout 2); No safety inspection since January 1, 2025; 17 counties still test emissions (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

## Is there a Kwik Kar warranty?

Not one you can read. We found no written warranty terms on kwikkar.com: no months, no miles, nothing on what is covered or where to claim. The address kwikkar.com/warranty/ returned “Page not found” on 10 October 2026, and /guarantee/, where sister brand Grease Monkey keeps its promise, redirected to the home page. The About page speaks of “doing the job right, guaranteeing our work,” and the fleet page’s “Satisfaction Guarantee” says “If something’s not right, we’ll make it right.”

Some warranty exists on paper. The SMS terms exclude “warranty work” from texted coupons, and the FDD tells franchisees that for “Alternative Automotive Services,” those “not performed in at least 85 percent of Kwik Kar Centers,” invoices must state that the customer “can only return to your Kwik Kar Center to exercise the warranty.” Neither says what the warranty is. Here is Kwik Kar beside three brands this site has read:

**Printed warranty and top-off terms of four oil-change brands (Kwik Kar read 10 October 2026; the others 9 October 2026, each from the brand’s own pages)**

| Brand | Written warranty on oil-change work | Where you claim | Top-offs between visits |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Kwik Kar | None found in writing | Not stated | “up to ½ pint,” “up to ½ quart” or “free for up to 3,000 miles,” by page |
| [Grease Monkey](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/grease-monkey/) (same parent company) | 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first | The original center, with the original invoice | Free: motor oil up to 1 quart and other fluids; not antifreeze |
| [Jiffy Lube](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/jiffy-lube-oil-change/) | “3 months or 3,000 miles of use, whichever comes first” | “See back of invoice for details” | Within 3,000 miles, “up to 2 quarts per fluid” |
| [Express Oil Change](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/express-oil-change/) | Three months or 3,000 miles on parts and labor | Any location, once the original location approves | None printed for between visits; washer fluid is topped off during the oil change |

**Get the warranty written on the invoice.** Before you pay, ask how long the work is covered in months and miles, whether another Kwik Kar will honor it, and what voids it. If the shop will not write it down, assume you have no written promise from the shop.

Your car’s factory warranty is a separate question. The FTC’s guidance on [auto warranties and service contracts](https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-warranties-and-auto-service-contracts) says “it’s illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage because you had routine maintenance or repairs done by someone else,” backed by 15 U.S.C. 2302(c) and 16 CFR 700.10(c). Keep every invoice: the FTC says to “Keep records of repairs and maintenance like oil changes.” Our page on [oil-change records](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-often-to-change-oil/#records) shows what a usable one contains.

## Brakes, batteries and other repairs: estimates and approval

Kwik Kar also sells brakes, batteries, alignments, tires, filters, fluid exchanges and engine diagnostics. Its pages promise the two things that matter before a repair: the brake page says “We’ll explain what needs fixing, give you a clear estimate, and only move forward with your go-ahead,” and the engine page “With your approval, we’ll get busy fixing things up.” Ask for the estimate in writing, parts and labor separated.

Not every shop does every job. Each service page ends “Services may vary by location,” and the store FAQ says that at non-participating centers “We do not offer brake services at this time,” and likewise for alignments, although the FDD says Kwik Kar Centers “must offer brake services.” Call ahead for anything beyond an oil change. The intervals Kwik Kar prints are general: brakes checked “every six months or between 20,000 to 60,000 miles,” a tune-up “every 30,000 to 50,000 miles (or as your manual suggests),” fluids at “30,000 miles or every two years.” Check them against your manual and our pages on [how long brake pads last](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-long-do-brake-pads-last/), [brake fluid intervals](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/brake-fluid-change/#interval) and [what decides a battery’s price](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/car-battery-replacement-cost/#what-decides). The battery page says nothing about a battery warranty, so ask whose warranty covers the one you buy; see [how battery warranties work](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/car-battery-warranty/#how-battery-warranties-work).

## Who owns Kwik Kar, and who runs your shop

The About page dates the first Texas shop to 1984 and says Kwik Kar “joined the FullSpeed Automotive® family” in 2022. In the FDD’s terms, GMI, which “also operates under the name FullSpeed Automotive,” bought the trademarks, the system and 56 license agreements from Kwik Industries, Inc. in 2022 and runs the company’s own shops. The franchisor, Kwik Kar Franchising, LLC, is “a Delaware limited liability company formed on January 22, 2024,” based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and “does not currently operate any Kwik Kar Centers, our affiliates do.”

The FDD traces the franchisor through seven holding companies to MidOcean Partners V, L.P.: “MidOcean is our ultimate parent company. It is a private investment group that owns multiple other business concepts.” The same direct parent owns GMI and the franchisors of Grease Monkey and SpeeDee. FullSpeed’s [release of November 30, 2020](https://fullspeedautomotive.com/news/midocean-partners-acquires-fullspeed-automotive-a-leading-platform-in-auto-aftermarket-services/) says MidOcean acquired FullSpeed Automotive from CenterOak Partners; our pages on [Grease Monkey](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/grease-monkey/) and [SpeeDee](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/speedee-oil-change/) read the sister brands the same way. Item 20 counts the Kwik Kar outlets GMI runs; licensed outlets are not in it:

**Kwik Kar outlets in the Franchise Disclosure Document issued April 3, 2025 (Item 20, Tables 1 and 4; all in Texas)**

| At year end | Franchised | Run by the affiliate GMI | What changed |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2022 | 0 | 36 | “Acquired and operated by our affiliate, GMI, in 2022” |
| 2023 | 0 | 24 | 12 closed |
| 2024 | 0 | 26 | 2 shops of another brand converted to Kwik Kar |

Franchise sales began on February 12, 2024. The FDD’s list of franchisees as of December 31, 2024 reads “NONE,” and it projected 3 franchised openings in Texas for 2025. The Grease Monkey FDD issued April 7, 2026 says “As of December 31, 2025, no KKF franchises had opened.” Minnesota’s registry holds Kwik Kar filings for 2024 and 2025 under file number 11196, then an Order of Cancellation dated 05/18/2026 because “the franchisor has failed to file an annual report and fee.” We found no Kwik Kar FDD issued in 2026. Item 3 discloses no litigation, Item 4 no bankruptcy, and a web search on 10 October 2026 found no attorney-general or FTC action naming Kwik Kar.

The About page says “every Kwik Kar shop is locally owned and operated by folks who live right in your neighborhood.” On the FDD’s numbers, the shops the owner runs belong to a Colorado-based affiliate of an investment group, and the rest are licensees. Neither store page we opened says which kind it is, so ask, and get any promise on an invoice that names the shop.

## Terms, privacy and disputes

Four documents set the rules:

**Which Kwik Kar document governs what (read 10 October 2026)**

| Document | What it covers | Law or forum it names |
| --- | --- | --- |
| kwikkar.com Terms & Conditions | Vouchers, gift certificates and Rewards only | None |
| SMS Mobile Message Marketing Program Terms | The coupon and reminder text program | Binding individual arbitration in Denver, Colorado, under the American Arbitration Association’s Commercial Rules |
| Privacy policy (“Last Updated: October 14, 2025”) | The website, store visits and communications | “The laws of Michigan and the United States” |
| kwikkarfranchise.com Terms of Use | The franchise sales website | The State of Illinois |

The SMS terms carry the strongest clauses. Joining the text program means resolving disputes “through binding, individual-only arbitration” before one arbitrator in Denver, under the law of the federal circuit where Grease Monkey International, LLC has its principal place of business. Class claims and punitive damages are barred, the result is confidential, and in court both sides “waive any right to a jury trial.” The terms also say “This Agreement is limited to the Program”; our reading is that they reach disputes about the texts, not about a repair. Asking an employee to stop the texts “is not a reasonable means of opting out” (text STOP), and the terms still name the sender “BRAND NAME.”

The privacy policy says that at a store Kwik Kar collects “information about your vehicle, such as VIN, mileage, year, make and model, and the services we perform,” and “we may share your vehicle information with CARFAX.” By our reading, Kwik Kar visits may then appear on your car’s history report; our guide to [reading a vehicle history report](https://baronauto1.com/vehicle-history/how-to-check-a-used-cars-history/#report) explains how service records show up. The policy says Kwik Kar does “not sell or share your personal information” outside Kwik Kar and its affiliates except as described, and reserves the right to “license or sell aggregate information” that is not individually identifiable. For a problem with a visit, the contact page says “Your neighborhood Kwik Kar is always the best place to start”; the Texas DPS vehicle-inspection pages carry their own “Submit a Complaint” link for inspection stations.

## Where Kwik Kar’s own pages disagree, and what they leave out

Besides the conflicts above (the point counts, the top-off limits, “nationwide” coupons, the inspection page, brakes at every center, local ownership), we found these:

- **Where Kwik Kar is.** The About page says “With locations across the country”; the locator says “communities across Texas,” and the FDD places every outlet in Texas.
- **Headquarters.** kwikkar.com gives “Kwik Kar Headquarters” at a Plano address that is also store #8146; the FDD and FullSpeed put the franchisor and FullSpeed in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
- **Template text.** The Plano and Sulphur Springs store pages both say “Kwik Kar Dallas is here to help you stay compliant,” and the locator’s search description, in its code, speaks of “343 oil change locations” and “an experienced Grease Monkey technician.”
- **Company-owned or not.** Item 19 says “We also do not have company-owned Centers,” while Table 1 lists the 26 shops under “Company Owned.” The franchisor owns none; its affiliate does.

Not published at all: a price for any service, the cost of a quart beyond five, the shop supply or disposal fee, any warranty term, how many top-offs you may claim, what a Rewards point is worth, which stores perform inspections, and whether licensed Kwik Kar shops honor kwikkar.com’s coupons, vouchers, gift certificates or Rewards.

## Before and after a Kwik Kar visit

- **Check the shop against the locator.** If it is not among the 26 on kwikkar.com, its coupons, prices and promises are its own.
- **Know what Texas requires.** A non-commercial car needs only an emissions test, and only if it is registered in one of the 17 counties.
- **Do not test right after a battery job or a cleared code.** The readiness monitors reset; drive a while first.
- **Read the coupon’s store list.** Show it at the estimate, one per visit, with ID for military or rideshare coupons.
- **Ask for the total before work starts.** Oil type, quarts beyond five, standard or premium filter, coupon, tax and any shop supply or disposal fee.
- **Get the warranty in writing.** Months, miles, which shops honor it and what voids it, on the invoice.
- **Approve repairs from a written estimate.** Kwik Kar’s brake and engine pages promise an estimate and your go-ahead.
- **Keep the invoice and the Vehicle Inspection Report.** One is your maintenance record for the factory warranty; the other proves an emissions pass at renewal.

## Common questions

### How much is an oil change at Kwik Kar?

Kwik Kar publishes no price. Its store FAQ says costs vary with the quantity of oil, the filter and the oil your car needs, and to ask for an estimate. Coupons are a discount “off regular price” on up to 5 quarts, with taxes and disposal fees extra where permitted. The only dated figure is the FDD’s: in 2024, average tickets at the affiliate-run centers ran from $97.78 to $110.83 by sales group, which is not a price.

### Does Kwik Kar do state inspections?

Kwik Kar says it “performs state inspections at participating service centers, including vehicle checks and emission tests.” Since January 1, 2025 Texas requires no safety inspection for non-commercial vehicles; 17 counties still require an emissions test before registration. DPS caps the station’s charge at $18.50 in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston and $11.50 in El Paso, Travis and Williamson counties, plus a $2.75 state fee at registration.

### Does Kwik Kar have a warranty?

None is published: no warranty page and no months-or-miles terms on kwikkar.com, only the About page’s “guaranteeing our work.” Sister brand Grease Monkey prints 3 months or 3,000 miles. Ask the shop to write its warranty on your invoice before you pay.

### Who owns Kwik Kar? Is it a franchise?

Kwik Kar is owned through FullSpeed Automotive by MidOcean Partners V, L.P. Grease Monkey International, LLC owns the trademarks and runs the company’s shops; Kwik Kar Franchising, LLC sells franchises. The April 3, 2025 FDD counts 26 affiliate-run and 89 licensed outlets, all in Texas, and no franchises; a 2026 filing says none had opened by December 31, 2025.

### Do I need an appointment, and how long does it take?

No. The home page says “No appointments, no delays,” though the store FAQ says you can schedule one. An oil change takes “about 15 minutes” (fleet page) or “between 15-20 minutes” (store FAQ).

### Do Kwik Kar coupons and military discounts work at every location?

Not necessarily. Each coupon lists the stores that take it, and several disclaimers say “Valid at listed location only”; on 10 October 2026 the lists ran from 2 to 28 Texas stores. Store pages list military, Lyft, Uber and fleet discounts without amounts, and the military and rideshare coupons require ID.
