# Valvoline Oil Change: Prices, Coupons and What’s Included

> Valvoline prints no national oil change price. What its full-service oil change includes, how its coupons and military discount work, and the fine print.

## The short version

- Valvoline prints no national oil-change price. Its price FAQ says the cost depends on “the type of motor oil you choose, the number of quarts required, and any discounts or special offers you have,” and that pricing “varies by store location.” Ask the store for a quote for your car.
- A full-service oil change at Valvoline Instant Oil Change includes up to 5 quarts of Valvoline oil, a new filter, chassis lubrication and an 18-point maintenance check, in “about 15 minutes” while you stay in the car. “Additional charge for extra quarts.”
- The website coupons are short-lived: both shown to us on 9 October 2026 printed “EXPIRES 10/24/2026,” 15 days later. The standing rules under them do not change: a premium filter is extra, and coupons are not valid with customer-supplied oil or other same-service offers.
- Valvoline’s own pages offer 15% off with a military ID, 10% for teachers and 20% for college students, at participating locations, excluding battery replacement and state inspections, and not combined with other offers.
- About half the stores are franchised: 1,224 of 2,456 at June 30, 2026, by Valvoline’s 10-Q. Its 10-K says Valvoline has “limited influence over its franchisees’ operations,” which is one reason prices and offers differ from store to store.
- An oil change at Valvoline rather than a dealer does not by itself put a factory warranty at risk; the FTC says it is illegal for a dealer to deny coverage for that reason. Keep the invoice: Valvoline says copies can take up to 24 hours.

A Valvoline oil change is a fixed service with a variable price: every store sells the same full-service oil change, but the price is set store by store, and about half the stores belong to franchisees. On 9 October 2026 we read the Valvoline Instant Oil Change website’s own pages: the Drive-Thru Oil Change page, its FAQs, the coupon page and the rules under each coupon, the military, teacher and student discount pages, and the Terms of Use. We also read Valvoline Inc.’s latest [annual report (10-K)](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1674910/000167491025000135/vvv-20250930.htm) and [quarterly report (10-Q)](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1674910/000167491026000066/vvv-20260630.htm) for who runs the stores, the FTC’s guidance on warranties and outside maintenance, and EPA’s page on used oil. Valvoline’s Terms of Use require its written permission “Before you frame or create any kind of hyperlink to this web site,” so its pages are named here, not linked. This site has no commercial relationship with Valvoline or any oil-change business.

**Figure: What a Valvoline oil change covers, by situation**

A two-column table of eight situations at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change: an engine that takes more than 5 quarts costs extra at a price Valvoline does not print; offers include a standard filter and a premium one costs extra; coupons are not valid with customer-supplied oil; a coupon and an ID discount cannot be combined; you can stay in the car for an oil change but not a tire rotation; the 18-point check covers tire pressure, not tread depth; there is no national price, so ask the store; and for a car under warranty, keep the invoice, which Valvoline can email or post within 24 hours of a request.

## What a Valvoline oil change costs, and why no price is printed

Whatever Valvoline oil change prices you find quoted, none comes from Valvoline’s own service pages, because they print none. Valvoline’s FAQ “What is the price for an oil change?” names three things that set it: “the type of motor oil you choose, the number of quarts required, and any discounts or special offers you have.” Then it sends you to the store: “For specific pricing, please visit or contact your local service center.” A footnote adds that prices “may vary by the make and model of the vehicle, region of the country, product availability, and/or local economic factors.”

A second FAQ says it more plainly: “Pricing for our vehicle services varies by store location,” with a quote available through the website’s chat or by calling the store. On full synthetic, the Drive-Thru Oil Change page says only that the price “can vary slightly depending on your location and your vehicle’s specific oil capacity” and that synthetic “costs more upfront than conventional oil.”

### What the company tells investors about its prices

Valvoline’s SEC filings are more direct about the direction of prices than its website is about their level. The 10-K for the fiscal year to September 30, 2025 says its customer value proposition gives it the ability to “raise prices while maintaining customer loyalty,” and that the company deals with inflation “by passing along price increases to its customers.” Same-store sales across the system grew 6.1% in fiscal 2025, “reflecting growth in average ticket from premiumization, pricing, and non-oil change service penetration.” In the quarter to June 30, 2026 they grew 8.0%, “supported by higher average ticket from pricing actions, ongoing premiumization, and non-oil change service penetration.”

Neither filing prints the average ticket in dollars, so neither tells you what you will pay. They do show where the growth comes from: pricing, “premiumization” and services beyond the oil change itself. In fiscal 2025, oil changes and related fees brought in $1,247.3 million of Valvoline’s $1,710.3 million in net revenues, and non-oil-change services $368.4 million. By our arithmetic that is 72.9% and 21.5%. (Net revenues count sales at company-operated stores plus royalties and fees from franchisees, not franchisees’ own sales.) Expect to be offered more than the oil change, and decide each extra against your owner’s manual.

**Get the total for your car before the work starts.** Valvoline’s price depends on your oil, your engine’s capacity, your store and any offer you hold. Ask for the price with your oil grade, any extra quarts, the filter and tax included, and ask whether your coupon or ID discount applies at that location.

## What the full-service oil change includes

The Drive-Thru Oil Change page lists three things under “FULL-SERVICE OIL CHANGE INCLUDES”:

- “Up to 5 quarts of top-tier Valvoline oil tailored to your vehicle’s specifications.”
- “A new, high-quality Valvoline oil filter.”
- Chassis lubrication, described as “Greasing your vehicle’s chassis components according to your manufacturer’s recommendations.”

The 5-quart limit carries a footnote: “Quarts vary by vehicle model and location. Additional charge for extra quarts.” Valvoline prints no price per extra quart. As a worked example (our arithmetic, for a hypothetical engine, not any particular car): an engine that takes 7 quarts would need 2 quarts beyond the 5 the offer terms include, and those 2 are the ones charged extra. Your owner’s manual lists the capacity with the filter.

The limit can also move the other way: an FAQ footnote says “Some service centers may include more than 5 quarts of oil and may not perform the complete list of service checks.” The home page’s summary says “5 quarts of quality Valvoline oil”; every other page says “Up to 5 quarts.”

The filter can also add to the bill. The rules under every website coupon include a filter with “(prem. extra)”, and the teacher discount’s terms spell it out as “std. oil filter (prem. extra).” Valvoline does not say what makes a filter premium or what it costs. As for the oil, Valvoline’s oil FAQ says “we exclusively offer Valvoline” motor oil, but the coupon terms say the offer covers “Valvoline™ motor oil or suitable alternative.” Neither page says when an alternative would be used. If your manual names an oil specification, ask what will go in and keep it on the invoice.

## The 18-point maintenance check, item by item

Valvoline sells the check as part of every full-service oil change: “We perform 18 ADDITIONAL VEHICLE MAINTENANCE CHECKS with every oil change.” The list on the Drive-Thru Oil Change page has exactly 18 items, but several carry a condition in brackets, and a footnote adds two conditions for the whole list: “Applies only to accessible/applicable items. At participating locations.” Here is the list as printed, with the condition beside each item.

**The 18-point maintenance check as Valvoline’s Drive-Thru Oil Change page lists it, read 9 October 2026**

| Item as printed | Condition printed beside it |
| --- | --- |
| Air filter | None |
| Automatic transmission fluid | “where applicable” |
| Battery test | “at participating locations” |
| Brake fluid | None |
| Cabin air filter | “if requested” |
| Differential fluids | “if requested” |
| Headlights | None |
| Lubricate chassis | “where applicable” |
| Power steering fluid | None |
| Radiator fluid | None |
| Reset oil change light | None |
| Taillights | None |
| Tire pressure | None (tread depth is not measured) |
| Transfer case fluid | “if requested” |
| Under chassis visual inspection | None |
| Under hood visual inspection | None |
| Windshield washer fluid | None |
| Wiper blades | None |

By our count, 12 of the 18 items carry no condition, 3 happen only “if requested,” 2 only “where applicable,” and 1, the battery test, only “at participating locations.” If you want the cabin filter, differential or transfer case looked at, say so. Chassis lubrication appears both in this list and in the oil change itself.

The tire line is narrower than it may sound. The footnote says the 18-Point Maintenance Check “does not measure or capture any information related to your tires’ tread depth,” and that the results “should not be understood to warrant or represent the tread depth” of your tires. Pressure is checked; wear is not.

Valvoline’s pages also disagree about the list. The FAQ “What is included in an oil change?” gives 11 checks, with no brake fluid, differential, transfer case, or under-hood and under-chassis inspection, and says some service centers “may not perform the complete list of service checks.” The road-ready page says “up to18” checks where the oil-change page says “every oil change.” The invoice is the record of what was checked on your car.

“Reset oil change light” refers to the car’s own service reminder; our page on [oil life monitors](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-often-to-change-oil/#monitors) explains what it measures. It is not the [check engine light](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/what-does-check-engine-light-mean/#what-it-says).

The check also feeds Valvoline’s sales. The 10-K says technicians use the company’s proprietary SuperPro system to “make timely service recommendations based upon visual inspection, vehicle service history,” and the carmaker’s own recommendations, in both company-operated and franchised stores. A recommendation is an offer, not a finding that the car needs work today. Compare it with the maintenance schedule in your manual before you agree.

## Stay in your car: how the service runs

The Drive-Thru Oil Change page opens with “Stay-in-your-car oil change in about 15 minutes” and lays the visit out in four steps:

- **Pull up to the bay.** “No appointment required.” A technician guides the car onto the service ramps and invites you to stay inside.
- **Select your service.** Staff “look up your vehicle’s exact manufacturer recommendations,” and you choose the oil.
- **The 18-point check.** While a customer service representative “reviews your car’s needs,” a technician does “a thorough visual safety inspection.”
- **Review and drive away.** “Ready in about 15 minutes.” Valvoline says it will “show you your fresh oil level on the dipstick, reset your oil monitoring system, provide your invoice.”

The FAQ on timing adds a range for anything beyond the oil change: some services, like an air filter, “can be performed at the same time,” while “Other preventive maintenance services may require an additional 10 to 20 minutes or more.” For the oil change, “No appointment is ever necessary at Valvoline Instant Oil Change. We operate entirely on a first-come, first-served basis.” The exception is state inspections, where “Some locations do ask you make an appointment.” Valvoline’s app says it shows “live estimated wait times” for nearby stores.

Staying in the car is the rule for the oil change, not for every service. The FAQ says you do not need to get out “for an oil change or most other services,” then names the exception: “Because we have to lift up your vehicle to rotate your tires, we ask that you wait in the waiting room while we perform tire rotation services.” The oil-change page says there are “no waiting rooms,” but the waiting-room FAQ says “Most stores have a waiting room” and “Waiting rooms vary by location.”

Use the dipstick step: look at the level yourself before you drive off, and check under the car after the first drive or two; our guide to [finding a leak with a sheet of cardboard](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/car-fluid-leaks/#cardboard) shows how to read fresh drips. Between visits, Valvoline says you can come in “if you need a top-off,” though “There may be a fee for top-offs of certain fluids.”

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over oil bottles and an oil filter mark a bottle, its cap and the filter, with Valvoline's 5-quart limit, its dipstick check before you leave, and the filter its coupons cover.

Valvoline’s oil change pages and coupon terms, read on 9 October 2026, include up to 5 quarts and charge for more (callout 1), describe showing you the fresh oil level on the dipstick (callout 2), and limit coupons to a standard filter (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

## Valvoline oil change coupons: how the website offers work

Valvoline publishes coupons on its own coupon page, which says you can “Text or email any of these great offers, print on your desktop or save to your mobile wallet.” On 9 October 2026 the page showed two: one for any full-service synthetic or synthetic blend oil change, one for any full-service conventional oil change. We do not print the amounts, because they do not last. Both read “EXPIRES 10/24/2026,” 15 days after the day we read them by our arithmetic, and the page’s own code sets each coupon to expire 15 days after it is shown. These are rolling two-week offers.

What stays the same is the “Offer details” printed under each coupon on the coupon, home and Drive-Thru Oil Change pages:

- **What the coupon covers.** “Includes up to 5 quarts of Valvoline™ motor oil or suitable alternative, filter (prem. extra), lube & maintenance check.” Extra quarts and a premium filter are outside it.
- **What is added.** “plus tax and other charges, if applicable.” Valvoline does not list the other charges.
- **What it cannot be combined with.** “Not valid with same service offers / discounts (including fleet), or customer-supplied oil.” One oil-change offer per oil change, and none if you bring your own oil.
- **Where it works.** “Good only at participating locations.” The terms also say to “see store for additional details or restrictions.”
- **What it is worth in cash.** “No cash or credit back; cash value $0.001.”

Variants exist. Another Valvoline coupon page adds “diesel quarts may vary; see stores for details,” and a campaign page Valvoline marks as not for search listing limits its offers to “participating Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri and Oklahoma locations.” Some offers are regional, so a coupon found elsewhere may not be accepted at your store.

Valvoline’s app is the other channel: it says you can “Receive special offers and Valvoline mobile coupons stored right in the app.” We did not install it.

**One offer per oil change, and only where the store takes it.** Every coupon and ID discount we read excludes combining with other offers, and every one is “Good only at participating locations.” Before the work starts, show the coupon or ID and ask the store to confirm it applies and what the total will be.

## Military, teacher and student discounts

Alongside the rotating coupons, Valvoline keeps three pages for discounts tied to who you are. They print a percentage and no end date. The terms below are quoted as printed on 9 October 2026.

**Valvoline Instant Oil Change’s ID discount pages as printed on 9 October 2026**

| Program | Discount as printed | Proof | Excluded | Combining |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Military | “get 15% off” | “Must show military ID” | “battery replacement or state inspection” | “Cannot be combined with any other offer/discount (including fleet)” |
| Teachers | “get 10% off” | “A valid form of identification”; “With this coupon” | “batteries, customer-supplied products, state inspections / emissions” | “May not be combined with other same-service offers/discounts (incl. fleet)” |
| College students | “20% Off your total invoice” | “Must show student ID” | “battery replacement or state inspection” | “Cannot be combined with any other offer/discount (including fleet)” |

All three are “Good only at participating locations.” The military page’s summary for search engines calls its discount “15% off your invoice.” The teacher page is worded locally, “Teachers from our neighboring schools get 10% off,” and its terms describe the oil change it applies to the same way the coupons do, with “std. oil filter (prem. extra).” The college page carries a tag asking search engines not to list it, so treat it as a campaign that may not run at every store and ask before you rely on it.

Because none of the three can be combined with a coupon, the choice at the counter is one or the other. Which saves more depends on the size of the bill, so ask the store to price both before you choose.

The site’s map also lists partner and campaign pages, for example for AARP, Allstate and GasBuddy. We did not read them and carry nothing from them.

## Which oil goes in, and who makes it

The Drive-Thru Oil Change page offers three oils, each described as meeting or exceeding “vehicle manufacturer specifications”: Advanced Protection Full Synthetic Motor Oil, Additional Protection Synthetic Blend MaxLife Motor Oil, and Premium Conventional Motor Oil “For Everyday Driving.” The step-by-step section on the same page says “You can choose from a conventional or a full synthetic oil change,” leaving out the blend, but the blend is on the menu and on the coupon.

Which one your car should get is set by the carmaker, and Valvoline says so: “Oil type depends on vehicle make, model and the manufacturer’s recommendation.” Its hybrid page says Valvoline “uses the exact oil specification your car manufacturer recommends” and that it does “not service or replace hybrid battery packs at this time.” On intervals, the oil-change page says they “depend on your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations and your driving conditions rather than the type of oil alone.” Valvoline prints no mileage interval of its own. Our page on [how often to change oil](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-often-to-change-oil/#synthetic) covers what sets the interval and what separates synthetic from conventional.

The oil carries Valvoline’s name, but the company running the store no longer makes it. Valvoline Inc.’s 10-K says that on March 1, 2023 it completed the sale of its Global Products business, “now doing business as Valvoline Global Operations,” or VGO, to Aramco Overseas Company B.V. Its [8-K of that date](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1674910/000119312523056426/d430550d8k.htm) gives the price as “$2.65 billion in cash, subject to certain customary adjustments.” Since then, the 10-K says, Valvoline Inc. owns the Valvoline brand for retail services while “VGO owns the Valvoline brand for all product uses globally,” and the stores buy “substantially all lubricant and certain ancillary products” from VGO under a long-term supply agreement. That is why the oil-change page’s footnote says “Valvoline™ is a trademark of Valvoline Global Operations.” For you, it changes nothing at the bay; it explains why the store and the bottle answer to different companies.

## Will a Valvoline oil change affect your warranty?

Not by itself. Valvoline’s own answer, on the Drive-Thru Oil Change page, is “Not at all,” citing the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: “you are free to have your vehicle serviced at any professional facility.” The FTC’s consumer guidance on [auto warranties and service contracts](https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/auto-warranties-and-auto-service-contracts) (read 8 October 2026) puts it from the buyer’s side: “it’s illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage because you had routine maintenance or repairs done by someone else.” For comparison, our [Jiffy Lube oil change](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/jiffy-lube-oil-change/) page reads the warranty Jiffy Lube prints on its oil changes.

The law behind both is 15 U.S.C. 2302(c), which bars a warrantor from tying a warranty to a service “identified by brand, trade, or corporate name” unless that service is free, and the FTC’s rule at 16 CFR 700.10(c), which bars conditioning a warranty on “authorized repair service” for “non-warranty service and maintenance.”

Valvoline’s answer leaves out the two qualifications the FTC adds. First, “if the warranty says that the work will be done for free, the dealer or manufacturer can make you use repair facilities it chooses.” If your car came with free scheduled maintenance, a Valvoline oil change does not void the warranty, but you pay for something you could have had free. Second, the work has to be right: if a part is installed incorrectly and damages a covered part, “the manufacturer or dealer can deny warranty coverage for the damaged part,” though it “must prove” the cause first. For an oil change, that means the oil meets the manual’s specification and the quantity is correct.

The paperwork is your part. The FTC says to “Keep records of repairs and maintenance like oil changes,” because “Otherwise, your claim might be denied,” and that a service contract “might require you to follow all the manufacturer’s recommendations for routine maintenance, like oil changes.” Valvoline says “we document your service history” and hands over an invoice at the bay; a lost one can be requested by email, chat or the store, and “Invoice requests may take up to 24 hours to process.” Our pages on [how warranty claims are checked](https://baronauto1.com/financing/is-an-extended-warranty-worth-it/#how-a-claim-works) and on [reading an oil-change history](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/how-often-to-change-oil/#records) show why that record matters.

What Valvoline does not publish is a guarantee on its own oil-change work, or what happens if something goes wrong afterwards. The only service warranty on the pages we read is for air conditioning: “Air conditioning service comes with a 30-day warranty.” For a problem after an oil change, the published routes are the store and customer service at 800-327-8242 (weekdays 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time).

## Who runs the store: company-operated, franchised, Oil Changers and Express Care

The sign says Valvoline Instant Oil Change either way, but about half the stores belong to someone else. Valvoline’s 10-Q counts the network at the end of each quarter:

**Valvoline’s store count from its 10-Q filed August 5, 2026 (U.S. and Canada, all retail brands)**

| Stores | September 30, 2025 | June 30, 2026 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Company-operated | 1,016 | 1,232 |
| Franchised | 1,164 | 1,224 |
| Total system-wide | 2,180 | 2,456 |
| Franchised share (our arithmetic) | 53.4% | 49.8% |

The 10-K is plain about what franchising means: “Valvoline has limited influence over its franchisees’ operations,” and franchisees “manage their businesses independently and are responsible for the day-to-day operations” of 53% of the stores as of September 30, 2025. Company-operated stores now slightly outnumber franchised ones, 1,232 to 1,224, mainly because of one purchase. On December 1, 2025, Valvoline bought Breeze Autocare for $637.4 million; the 10-Q says Breeze operates “predominantly under the Oil Changers” brand “with stores in California, Texas, and the Midwest,” and that the deal “initially included 204” stores. It also says 45 of them were sold immediately under the FTC’s “Decision and Order that required the disposal of certain acquired locations,” which leaves 159 by our arithmetic. Across the system, the count grew by 332 stores in the year to June 30, 2026.

The Valvoline Instant Oil Change website does not mention Oil Changers, so whether those stores follow the same menu, check list and coupons is something to ask at the store. The 10-Q now describes the network as “approximately 2,500 service center locations” under VIOC, Valvoline Great Canadian Oil Change (the Canadian brand) and Oil Changers. Valvoline also “supports over 240 locations through its Express Care” platform, which the 10-K describes as “an independent quick lube platform with a professional signage program and limited business model support.” By that description, an Express Care shop is an independent operator under Valvoline signage rather than a Valvoline Instant Oil Change store, and the website coupons say nothing about it.

Training is another place where the type of store matters. The website says “Our friendly certified technicians complete 270 HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING.” The 10-K describes the program more narrowly: Valvoline provides “new VIOC and GCOC employees 270 hours of training that is generally completed within the first 60 days of employment leading to their first certification and another 240 hours of training in the next 140 days.” That is 510 hours over the first 200 days, by our arithmetic, for Valvoline’s own employees. Neither document says what a franchisee’s staff receive, and the certification described is Valvoline’s own.

Two website figures are Valvoline’s claims about itself, which we cannot check: a 4.7 out of 5 rating from its own survey of “over 1,000,000” customers a year, and savings of “up to 30% to 50% on non-oil change services” against dealerships, from its 2024 survey of seven carmakers’ dealer pricing. The second does not cover oil changes.

## Where Valvoline’s own pages disagree, and what they leave out

Several disagreements between Valvoline’s pages appear above: the waiting rooms, the 18-item and 11-item check lists, “exclusively” Valvoline oil against “or suitable alternative,” two oils in the step-by-step text against three on the menu, and the training hours. Three more are worth knowing:

- **How many stores.** “More than 2,100” on the home, About and coupon pages; “more than 2,000” in one FAQ; “more than 1,500” on the FAQ index. The 10-Q counts 2,456 stores in the U.S. and Canada at June 30, 2026, including Oil Changers.
- **Appointments.** “No appointment is ever necessary” for the oil change, while some locations ask for one for state inspections.
- **Tire rotation time.** “About 15 minutes” and “about 20 minutes” on the same FAQ page.

Some things are on no page we read: an oil-change price, a price per extra quart or for a premium filter, a guarantee on the work, which offers each franchised or Oil Changers store accepts, and whether stores take used oil from people who change their own. For that last one, EPA’s page on [managing and recycling used oil](https://www.epa.gov/recycle/managing-reusing-and-recycling-used-oil) (last updated June 25, 2026) says the used oil from one oil change “can contaminate one million gallons of fresh water,” a year’s supply for 50 people. It tells do-it-yourselfers to use “a leak-proof can or container,” to ask local maintenance shops and waste officials where to drop it off, and “to drain and recycle used oil filters as well.” Ask your Valvoline store before you carry used oil in.

If you are weighing another chain, our pages on the [Walmart oil change](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/walmart-oil-change/) and the [Take 5 oil change](https://baronauto1.com/car-care/take-5-oil-change/) read those companies’ own terms the same way. We do not rank them.

## Before and after a Valvoline oil change

- **Read the manual first.** Note the oil viscosity, any specification it names, the capacity with the filter and the service interval. Those decide which oil you need and whether the 5-quart limit applies.
- **Get a quote.** Valvoline says pricing “varies by store location” and offers quotes by website chat or phone. Ask for the total with your oil, any extra quarts, the filter and tax.
- **Pick one offer.** A website coupon or an ID discount, not both. Check the coupon’s expiry date and ask whether your store accepts it.
- **Bring your own oil only if you will pay full price.** Coupons are not valid with customer-supplied oil.
- **Ask for the checks you want.** The cabin filter, differential and transfer case are checked only “if requested.” Tread depth is not measured at all.
- **Treat recommendations as offers.** Compare any extra service with the schedule in your manual before you say yes.
- **Look at the dipstick before you leave.** Valvoline says it will show you the fresh oil level. Check for drips under the car after the first drive.
- **Keep the invoice.** It should show the oil type and grade, the quantity, the filter and the mileage. That is your warranty record; a copy can take up to 24 hours to arrive.

## Common questions

### How much is a Valvoline oil change?

Valvoline does not print a national price. Its FAQ says the price depends on “the type of motor oil you choose, the number of quarts required, and any discounts or special offers you have,” that pricing “varies by store location,” and that a store can quote you by phone or website chat. The full-service oil change includes up to 5 quarts, a new filter, chassis lubrication and the 18-point check; extra quarts and a premium filter cost more.

### How much is a full synthetic oil change at Valvoline?

Valvoline answers without a figure: the price “can vary slightly depending on your location and your vehicle’s specific oil capacity,” and synthetic oil “costs more upfront than conventional oil.” Any synthetic price you see quoted is a local or dated figure. Ask your store for the total with your engine’s capacity.

### Are there Valvoline oil change coupons?

Yes, on Valvoline’s own coupon page and in its app, but they are short-lived: on 9 October 2026 both coupons shown expired 15 days later. Under every coupon the rules are the same: up to 5 quarts, “filter (prem. extra),” plus tax, not valid with other same-service offers or customer-supplied oil, and only at participating locations.

### Does Valvoline have a military discount?

Valvoline’s military page says “Show your military ID and get 15% off,” excluding battery replacement and state inspections, not combined with any other offer, at participating locations. Its pages also offer teachers 10% and college students 20% on the same kind of terms; the college page is marked not for search listing, so confirm it with your store.

### How long does a Valvoline oil change take, and do I need an appointment?

Valvoline says “about 15 minutes,” while you stay in the car, with other services adding “10 to 20 minutes or more.” No appointment is needed for an oil change; stores work “first-come, first-served,” and the app shows estimated wait times. Some locations ask for appointments for state inspections.

### Will a Valvoline oil change void my car’s warranty?

No, not by itself. The FTC says it is illegal for a dealer to deny warranty coverage because routine maintenance was done somewhere else. Two limits apply: if your warranty provides the maintenance free, you lose that benefit by paying elsewhere, and damage from faulty work can be refused once the warrantor proves the cause. Keep every Valvoline invoice with the car’s records.
