# Cost per Mile

> Add up what a car actually costs you: fuel computed from your MPG and pump price, then insurance, loan interest, maintenance, taxes and — if you choose to price it — value loss, answered per year, per month and per mile.

## What this tool does

The sticker is a day; the running cost is every day after it. Enter your annual miles, the MPG and your pump price — fuel is the one line the page computes — then your own figures for insurance, loan interest, maintenance and registration, and optionally your estimate of yearly value loss. The answer comes back three ways: per year, per month, and the figure that compares any two cars honestly — per mile.

## Where the inputs come from

This tool is fed by the others: the MPG Lookup reads the label figure, the Loan Cost comparator's total interest divided by the term's years is the finance line, and the maintenance and cost guides show what moves the budget lines. Insurance is your quote, not an estimate — nothing here is prefilled, because printed running costs go stale and yours are the only ones that bind.

## Limits worth knowing

Depreciation is only counted if you price it yourself — this site does not invent value curves, and the depreciation guide explains why. And the cheapest mile is the one the record didn't surprise you with: the car's own history still gets the last word on what these lines will really be.
