# Acura Financial Services Review: Payoff, Lease End and Who Holds It

> Who stands behind Acura Financial Services, how to pay and pay off, the Acura Loyalty Advantage mileage and wear waivers, and where AFS’s own pages disagree.

## The short version

- Acura Financial Services (AFS) is a trade name of American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC), Honda’s US lender, and Acura leases are titled to Honda Lease Trust or its trustee, HVT, Inc. The old acurafinancialservices.com address forwards to acura.americanhondafinance.com.
- One-Time Payment and EasyPay from a bank account are free; AFS takes no credit cards, and ACI Pay, Western Union and MoneyGram charge their own fees. A payment made after 2:00 p.m. Pacific counts the next business day.
- The payoff quote is on your statement, by phone or in your account, with no printed expiry. A lien release or lease title takes about 2 to 3 weeks on average, AFS says, but a lease buyout title waits until AFS has your signed odometer form.
- Every Acura Luxury Lease includes a $750 wear-and-use waiver, up to $1,500 if you buy or lease another new Acura or Honda within 30 days of turn-in. Honda’s figures are $500 and $1,000.
- The Acura Loyalty Advantage is what sets AFS apart: half your excess miles waived and up to 15,000 unused miles carried forward, but only if your next new Acura goes through AFS. AFS words the 7,500-mile limit two different ways.
- Only you or an authorized Honda or Acura dealer can buy the car at lease end, at a price that is not negotiable. AFS prints no turn-in fee amount and no per-mile charge; both are in your lease.

Most people who search “Acura Financial Services” want to pay, pay off a loan, end a lease or find out who actually holds their contract. On 9 October 2026 we read what AFS publishes on those questions on its own site: its [Acura Loyalty Advantage](https://acura.americanhondafinance.com/s/acura-loyalty-advantage-pre-login) page, its [End of Lease](https://acura.americanhondafinance.com/s/end-of-lease-pre-login) and Payment Options pages, 31 help articles, its privacy notice, its odometer and title form and the Legal Terms and Conditions the site links. We checked the passages of AHFC’s 10-K for the year to 31 March 2026 that name AFS or describe how leases are held. AHFC’s regulator record is shared with Honda, so we summarise it from our [Honda Financial Services review](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/), read on 6 October 2026. We entered no login or credit application, and this site has no commercial relationship with Acura, AHFC or any lender.

**Figure: Acura Financial Services: what its own pages say**

A two-column table of seven questions set against Acura Financial Services’ own pages: the account is held by American Honda Finance Corporation, with leased cars titled to Honda Lease Trust or HVT, Inc.; paying from a bank account by One-Time Payment or EasyPay is free, credit cards are not accepted, and ACI Pay, Western Union and MoneyGram charge their own fees; returning lessees who lease or finance a new Acura through AFS get half their excess miles waived, with a 7,500-mile limit AFS words two ways; up to 15,000 unused miles, rounded up to the next 1,000, carry to the next Acura Luxury Lease; every Acura Luxury Lease waives $750 of wear, up to $1,500 for clients who buy or lease again within 30 days of turn-in; the turn-in fee is set by state and contract; and only the lessee or an authorized Honda or Acura dealer may buy the leased car.

## Who Acura Financial Services is

Three of AHFC’s own documents answer this the same way. The Legal Terms and Conditions page on the Acura site says: “Honda Financial Services and Acura Financial Services are DBAs of American Honda Finance Corporation.” The AFS privacy notice (form AFS-50PP2-26) names who is providing it as “Acura Financial Services a dba of American Honda Finance Corporation and its affiliates, which include financial and insurance companies,” and ends: “Acura Financial Services is a DBA of American Honda Finance Corporation.” And AHFC’s 10-K says: “In the United States and Canada, we provide our financing products under the brand names Honda Financial Services and Acura Financial Services.”

So your contract is with AHFC, a subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. A lease adds one more name. The 10-K explains that when AHFC buys a US lease from the dealer, the dealer assigns its rights “to either our wholly-owned subsidiary, Honda Lease Trust (HLT) or its trustee, HVT, Inc., depending on the applicable state,” and that HLT is “a trust established to take assignments of and serve as holder of legal title to leased automobiles.” That is why the odometer form an Acura lessee signs at buyout lists the lessor as “Honda Lease Trust or HVT, Inc. or HVT, Inc., Trustee for Honda Lease Trust.”

The website has moved. Both www.acurafinancialservices.com and its robots file redirected to acura.americanhondafinance.com when we checked on 9 October 2026. That site greets you with “Welcome to Acura Financial Services,” yet it is the same account system Honda customers use: a help article on the Acura site says “The Honda Financial Services site is for anyone who has financed or leased any Honda or Acura products,” and the header logo’s alt text on the Acura pages we read is “Honda Financial Services.” Of the 124 help articles in the Acura site’s sitemap, only two are about Acura alone, both on the Acura Loyalty Advantage.

AHFC’s About Us page says it began retail financing for Honda and Acura cars in California “in May 1986” and retail leasing in “April 1990.” Like HFS, AFS is an indirect lender: the dealer writes the contract and sets the rate you see, and AHFC buys it. If you are still shopping, a [preapproval](https://baronauto1.com/financing/car-loan-preapproval/) from another lender gives you a rate to hold the dealer to; AFS’s own pre-approval page says its credit decision “typically takes one business day after you apply.”

## How to pay Acura Financial Services, and what each way costs

AFS’s payments article opens “You have six payment options,” and its Payment Options page lists a few more. The routes AFS runs itself all draw on a checking or savings account; the card and cash routes go through outside companies that set their own fees.

**Ways to pay an Acura Financial Services account, as AFS’s Payment Options page and payments article describe them (read 9 October 2026)**

| Method | What AFS says it needs | Fee, as AFS prints it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| One-Time Payment, online | A checking or savings account, in your AFS login | “provided free of charge” (shared help article) |
| EasyPay automatic payments | A recurring monthly draft from checking or savings | “provided free of charge” (shared help article) |
| Automated phone line | “a bank account saved to your online payment profile” | “our free automated system” |
| Customer Service by phone | Bank account or debit card, per the payments article | None printed |
| Mail, or your bank’s bill pay | The payment address on your statement | None printed |
| Debit card through ACI Pay | A third-party vendor | “ACI Pay assesses a processing fee”; no amount |
| Western Union Quick Collect | Account number and the code ACURAFINANCE, CA | “Western Union fees and terms apply” |
| MoneyGram | Account number and the receive code AFS prints | “MoneyGram fees and terms apply” |
| Credit card | Not accepted | “We are unable to accept credit cards” |

The one detail that is genuinely Acura’s own is the Western Union code. AFS tells you to give “your finance account number and city and state code: ACURAFINANCE, CA.” Use the code and payment address printed for Acura, not ones you find on a Honda page or a forum, or the payment can sit unmatched while the due date passes.

Timing matters more than method. The terms on the Acura site say “any payment transacted electronically after 2:00 p.m. PT (Pacific Time) or on a non-business day will be processed the following business day,” and “Payments will be posted to your account within 1-2 business days.” On the East Coast that is 5:00 p.m., by our arithmetic. A shared help article, read for our Honda review, adds that “The date of payment will be honored by Honda and Acura Financial Services, regardless of the date that the payment is deducted from your bank account.” Late fees are not printed anywhere AFS publishes: “a late charge may be assessed to your account and interest will continue to accrue. Refer to your contract for specific information regarding late charges.” AFS’s articles on EasyPay, extra principal, returned payments and due dates are the same ones Honda customers get; our Honda review covers them under [paying](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#paying) and [extra payments](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#extra-payments), including the trap that an EasyPay draft still goes out if you have already paid by another route that month.

Looking for a phone number? AFS’s Contact Us page asks for your product and the state where the car was acquired before showing one, and your statement prints yours. Lease-end questions go to the Lease Maturity Center, which has its own Acura line, the same in each of the three AFS articles that give it.

## Payoff quotes, title and the security deposit

AFS says “Payoff quotes are located on your monthly statement. You can also call the toll-free number printed on your statement or log into your finance account.” No AFS page we read says how many days a quote stays good, so get a fresh one on the day you pay. On a lease, the estimated payoff falls more slowly than you might expect: “Your payment consists of depreciation and a rent charge (which is the cost of having a lease) and possibly taxes. Only the depreciation amount is applied to your payoff.”

**What AFS says you receive after a payoff, and when (help articles read 9 October 2026)**

| Situation | What you receive | AFS’s stated timing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Retail loan paid off | A lien release, to take to your state agency | 2 to 3 weeks on average, after the final payment clears |
| Lease paid off by a bank, credit union or dealer | The title goes to whoever paid | 2 to 3 weeks on average |
| You buy your lease and mail the odometer form with the check | Title | 3 to 4 weeks by standard mail |
| You pay online and email or fax the odometer form | Title | 2 to 3 business days to process the form, then 3 to 4 weeks |
| You paid but never sent the odometer form | Title, once the form arrives by one of three routes | 2 to 3 business days, then 3 to 4 weeks |
| Lease garaged in Ohio | Title, under Ohio’s own form | “up to 4-6 weeks” |
| Leadership Purchase Plan paid off | No odometer form needed | Not stated |

The odometer form is where lease buyouts stall. AFS says “Your vehicle title cannot be released until we receive the Odometer Disclosure Statement form,” because “federal law requires disclosure of the vehicle mileage in connection with the transfer of ownership.” The form served from the Acura site is Honda-branded: you fill everything “up to the ‘Lessor Information’ section which will be completed by Honda Financial Services,” and it warns: “Select a checkbox (Selecting 2 or 3 will invalidate the odometer form.)” Box 1 certifies the reading is the actual mileage. If you already paid without it, AFS has a separate article for that case: “You have three options to send in your missing documents,” by email, fax or mail. Confirm your address on file before you pay.

If your Acura lease began with a security deposit, AFS says it “is generally released upon receipt of payoff if there is no outstanding auto lease balance or pending property taxes due on your account.” AFS gives no number of days, and it names pending property taxes as one thing that can hold the deposit back.

## Ending an Acura lease: buy it, hand it back or extend

AHFC’s 10-K says lease accounts move to its Lease Maturity Center “six months prior to the end of the given lease term,” and AFS’s End of Lease page picks up the same point: “When you reach the final six months of your lease, we invite you to explore these three options.” They are return the car and lease a new Honda or Acura, buy it, or return it. Two to three months before the end, AFS tells you to call the Lease Maturity Center and “ask if you qualify for Honda Loyalty Benefits or the Acura Loyalty Advantage,” and to book the free inspection.

**No outside dealer or buyer can purchase the car from AFS.** AFS says: “We are unable to conduct third-party sales. In accordance with the HFS and AFS lease agreement, lease purchases are only available to the lessee or authorized Honda and Acura dealers. Leased vehicles not purchased must be returned to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer.” An offer from an independent dealer or an online buyer can only work if you buy the car yourself first. Our [lease takeover guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/car-lease-takeover/#which-lessors) compares what other lessors allow.

The buyout price is fixed. Asked whether it can be negotiated, AFS answers: “No, this amount is determined at the beginning of your lease or Leadership Purchase Plan, is included in your contract, and is used to determine your monthly payments.” You get a purchase quote online or from the automated line, though “If you live in IL or OH, certain conditions require that you speak with a Lease-End Specialist.” You then pay “the full purchase amount (including state sales tax, if any),” and “If you would prefer to finance your lease purchase through HFS or AFS, please contact your Honda or Acura dealer to determine eligibility for financing.” Our [lease buyout guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/lease-buyout/#residual) explains how the residual in that price was set.

If you hand the car back, AHFC’s 10-K says “the grounding dealer initially has the exclusive right to purchase the vehicle at the contractual residual value,” then Honda and Acura dealers bid through its VIPS online auction, and only then “the auction is opened to any dealer.” Few cars get that far: our Honda review found that in the year to 31 March 2026, 272 thousand of AHFC’s 279 thousand US lease terminations were bought by the lessee or the dealer, 97.5% by our arithmetic.

If the lease has ended and you still have the car, call: AFS offers a lease extension, “which adds additional time to your existing lease,” through a “Request Lease Extension” link “if available on your account dashboard” or by phone, and adds “Conditions apply.” AFS prints none of the conditions. Bring all keys, the owner’s manual, maintenance records, the Vehicle Return Receipt, the inspection report and repair receipts to the Honda or Acura dealer, and if the dealer has promised to cover your last payments, AFS says to “follow up with your dealer to ensure they are made on time.” Want to keep your plates? Call the Lease Maturity Center “for a letter advising that you may keep the license plates.”

## The turn-in fee, wear and mileage, as AFS prints them

AFS lists what can land on the final bill: “Wear-and-use or damage, outstanding payments, excessive mileage, turn-in fee, and any other outstanding obligations specified in your vehicle lease agreement.” It prints no dollar figure for any of them. The turn-in fee, which other lessors call a disposition fee, “depends on your state. See your lease contract for details.” Excess miles are the same: “If you go over your mileage allowance, charges may apply. Please review your lease agreement for details.” One line on the End of Lease page is easy to miss: “The turn-in fee, outstanding wear-and-use or damage charges, and excess mileage may be subject to applicable sales tax.” And the bill comes later: “If any end-of-term liabilities apply, these items will be billed at a later time.”

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over a key fob passing between two hands mark the fob, the giving hand and the receiving hand, with Acura Financial Services' excess-mile waiver, its wear waiver, and who may buy the car at lease end.

Acura Financial Services’ lease-end and loyalty pages, read on 9 October 2026, waive half of excess miles up to 7,500 if your next Acura goes through AFS (callout 1), waive $750 of wear, or up to $1,500 if you buy or lease again (callout 2), and let only you or an authorized Honda or Acura dealer buy the car at lease end (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

Your mileage allowance is on your lease agreement, and AFS says that once it is signed “you cannot change your mileage allowance.” The Acura Loyalty Advantage page lists the allowances an Acura Luxury Lease offers: “Choose from 7,500, 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000 miles per year, and additional miles can be purchased at signing.” AFS says miles bought up front cost less than paying for them at the end, but “If you do not use all the miles you purchase, no refund is made.” Our [lease-or-buy guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/lease-vs-buy-car/#mileage) covers how to size an allowance.

The inspection is free, and AFS says you can book it online with your account number and VIN. When to do it depends on which AFS page you read: the inspection article says “in the last two scheduled months of your lease contract,” the End of Lease page “Two to three months before.” Either way, leave time to fix things. AFS says you can return the car unrepaired and “receive a bill for the cost of excess wear and use,” and asks you to call the Lease Maturity Center first, “as some damages may be covered by your Excessive Wear-and-Use or Damage Waiver.” If you do repair, one clause matters: “the use of Honda and Acura Genuine parts is a requirement of lease agreements.”

The Acura site links the same inspection guide PDF as the Honda site, byte for byte: scratches longer than 3 inches, dents over 1.5 inches and tires under 4/32 inch of tread are among its chargeable examples ([full table](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#lease-charges)).

## The Acura Luxury Lease and the Acura Loyalty Advantage, line by line

This is where AFS differs from Honda Financial Services. AFS calls its standard lease the Acura Luxury Lease, and says it “comes with the exclusive benefits of the Acura Loyalty Advantage,” a standing program, not a monthly offer. Its page lists six features. Three apply to every Acura Luxury Lease: “term choices from 24 to 60 months,” the four mileage allowances above, and GAP, which AFS says “generally covers the difference between insurance payments and the outstanding lease if your vehicle is stolen or deemed a total loss” and “is standard on all Acura Luxury Leases.” That built-in lease GAP is not the same product as the Acura Care GAP a dealer may sell you; see our [GAP guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/gap-insurance/#leasing) and our [Acura extended warranty review](https://baronauto1.com/financing/acura-extended-warranty/#lender). The other three features depend on what you do next.

**Acura Loyalty Advantage benefits as AFS’s page, footnotes and help articles state them (read 9 October 2026)**

| Benefit | What AFS says you get | The condition, in AFS’s words |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Wear-and-use waiver | $750 on every Acura Luxury Lease | None: “The Acura Luxury Lease includes a $750 Excessive Wear-and-Use or Damage Waiver” |
| Loyalty wear waiver | “An additional $750”; total “not to exceed $1,500” | Buy or lease “another new Acura or Honda automobile within 30 days prior to or after the turn-in date” |
| Turn-in fee waiver | The state-set turn-in fee | Loyal clients “may be eligible” |
| Mileage Forgiveness | Half your excess miles; 7,500-mile limit | “finance a lease or retail purchase of a new Acura from a participating Acura dealer through Acura Financial Services” |
| Excess Miles Waiver | “1,000 additional miles applied to your next lease” | You were over your miles and lease again from AFS |
| Rollover Miles | Up to 15,000 unused miles, “rounded up to the nearest 1,000” | Added “to your next Acura Luxury Lease” |

The footnotes add the rules that govern all of it. “To obtain ALA benefits, clients must lease a new vehicle from AFS and undergo standard AFS verification and credit approval requirements. ALA benefits are only available within 180 days of the scheduled maturity date and 180 days after lease termination. AFS may terminate ALA benefits at any time, without notice.” Notice the brand difference between benefits. The wear waiver counts a new Honda as loyalty; Mileage Forgiveness and Rollover Miles need a new Acura through AFS.

Two worked examples, both hypothetical and both our arithmetic. A lessee 5,000 miles over the allowance who leases a new Acura through AFS would have 2,500 miles waived and 2,500 billed at the rate in the lease, which AFS does not print. A lessee 2,300 miles under would carry 3,000 miles into the next Acura Luxury Lease, because AFS rounds up to the nearest 1,000.

Above 7,500 miles over, AFS’s own wording splits. Its loyalty article says “If you have driven more than your contracted lease miles (up to 7,500), we will waive half of your excess mileage,” which ties the limit to the miles you are over. The page footnote says “one-half of all your excess miles, up to 7,500 miles, are eligible for waiver,” which ties it to the miles waived. On a hypothetical lease 12,000 miles over, the first reading waives 3,750 miles and the second 6,000, by our arithmetic. AFS does not say which applies, so ask the Lease Maturity Center to put the figure in writing before you sign the next lease.

The One-Pay Lease, paid in one sum up front, carries the same waivers, “$500 for Honda and $750 for Acura,” and its lessees get an end-of-term packet “90 days before the lease maturity date.”

## Acura versus Honda Financial Services: what actually differs

Both brands share one lender, one account site, one set of help articles and one set of terms. Comparing each brand’s own lease page (both read on 9 October 2026), the differences are in lease benefits, not in paying or paying off.

**Acura Financial Services versus Honda Financial Services, as each brand’s own pages print them**

| Item | Acura Financial Services | Honda Financial Services |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Wear-and-use waiver included | $750 (Acura Luxury Lease) | $500 (Honda Leadership Leasing) |
| Total waiver for loyal customers | Up to $1,500 | Up to $1,000 |
| Turn-in fee waiver | Loyal clients who buy or lease “their next Acura or Honda” | Loyal customers who buy or lease “their next Honda vehicle” |
| Over your lease miles | Half waived, 7,500-mile limit, plus 1,000 miles on the next lease | None listed on the Honda Loyalty Benefits page |
| Under your lease miles | Up to 15,000 miles rolled to the next Acura Luxury Lease | None listed |
| Privacy notice | Form AFS-50PP2-26, issued as Acura Financial Services | Form HFS-50PP2-26 |
| Payments, cut-off, payoff, title, third-party rule, inspection guide, terms | The same pages and articles for both brands | |

By our arithmetic, the Acura base waiver is $250 larger than Honda’s and the loyalty cap $500 larger. The mileage programs exist only on the Acura side: the Honda Loyalty Benefits page lists GAP, the waiver and the turn-in fee waiver, and no mileage forgiveness or rollover. One quirk cuts the other way. A loyal Acura client can qualify for the turn-in fee waiver by moving to a new Honda, while Honda’s page asks its customers to move to “their next Honda vehicle.”

## Where AFS’s own documents disagree

In these places two AFS or AHFC documents say different things. Where it matters to you, get the answer in writing from the Lease Maturity Center.

- **Which terms are current.** The Terms & Conditions page on the Acura site reads “LAST UPDATED: March 12, 2026.” The terms PDF the same site still serves reads “LAST UPDATED: July 24, 2025.”
- **The 7,500-mile limit.** Tied to the miles you are over in the help articles, to the miles waived in the page footnote (see the example above).
- **What Mileage Forgiveness requires.** The page panel says it applies “when you lease or finance through Acura Financial Services (AFS)”; its footnote requires “a new Acura from a participating Acura dealer.”
- **The turn-in fee waiver.** Both Acura articles list “A waiver on the turn-in fee” as a benefit; the page and the articles’ own footnotes say loyal clients only “may be eligible.”
- **The loyalty window.** “within 30 days prior to or after the turn-in date” on the page and in the articles; “within 30 days of your maturity date” in the lease-ended article; benefits “within 180 days of the scheduled maturity date and 180 days after lease termination” in the program footnote.
- **Lease length.** The Acura page offers “term choices from 24 to 60 months.” AHFC’s 10-K says US leases “generally range from 24 to 48 months,” 12 months shorter at the top, by our arithmetic.
- **When to inspect.** “the last two scheduled months” in the inspection article, “Two to three months before” on the End of Lease page.
- **Whose name is on the paperwork.** The site welcomes you to “Acura Financial Services” and the privacy notice is issued as AFS, but the header logo’s alt text says “Honda Financial Services,” and the odometer form names Honda Financial Services and Honda Lease Trust.

## The lender behind both brands: AHFC’s record in brief

Because Acura Financial Services is a trade name, everything regulators and AHFC’s own filings say about the lender applies to Acura accounts too. Our [Honda Financial Services review](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#the-lender) read those documents on 6 October 2026; the essentials, with that read date:

- **Who it lends to.** AHFC was incorporated on February 6, 1980. By our arithmetic from its 10-K, 81.5% of its US and Canadian retail loans were graded A or B at origination. Its US charge-off ratio rose to 0.65% in the year to 31 March 2026, from 0.50% two years earlier. The filings do not split any of this by brand.
- **The 2015 dealer-markup order.** On July 14, 2015 the CFPB (2015-CFPB-0014) and the Justice Department resolved a fair-lending investigation of dealer markups on AHFC loans. AHFC had to fund $24 million for affected borrowers and cap dealer markups. Details are in [our Honda review](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#orders-2015).
- **The 2025 credit-reporting order.** On January 17, 2025 the CFPB (2025-CFPB-0003) ordered AHFC to pay $10,300,000 in redress and a $2,500,000 penalty, $12.8 million in all, over inaccurate credit reporting, including deferred COVID-era accounts reported as late. AHFC consented without admitting or denying the findings. See [the order summary](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#order-2025).
- **The 2021 servicemember case.** On October 6, 2021 a federal court entered a consent order in the Justice Department’s case alleging AHFC failed to refund pre-paid lease amounts to servicemembers who ended leases on military orders: $1,585,803.89 to 714 servicemembers and a $64,715 civil penalty.
- **An add-on settlement.** AHFC’s 10-K says that in October 2025 it “settled a legal action for approximately $130 million related to the financing of add-on products,” without naming the action. If you bought add-ons with an Acura loan or lease, ask for a written list of each one and how to cancel it.

Complaints work the same way. The CFPB’s database has no company name for Acura Financial Services: on 9 October 2026 a search of its company field for “acura” returned no complaints, and a search for “honda” returned a single company, AMERICAN HONDA FINANCE CORP. When our Honda review counted on 6 October 2026, that file held 5,080 complaints, 2,125 of them (41.8%) about vehicle loans or leases, for Honda and Acura together. Complaints are unverified consumer reports, and the count grows with a lender’s size; the [Honda review](https://baronauto1.com/financing/honda-financial-services-review/#complaints) breaks them down by issue and year.

## If you have an Acura Financial Services loan or lease

- **Pay from a bank account by 2:00 p.m. Pacific** on a business day; use the ACURAFINANCE, CA code only if you pay through Western Union, and expect its fee.
- **Get a fresh payoff quote on the day you pay,** since AFS prints no expiry, and confirm your mailing address for the title or lien release.
- **Send the signed odometer form with a lease buyout,** ticking box 1 only, or the title waits.
- **Call the Lease Maturity Center two to three months out** and ask, in writing, whether you qualify for the Acura Loyalty Advantage and how many excess miles would be waived.
- **Book the free inspection,** ask whether the $750 waiver covers a repair before paying for it, and use Genuine parts.
- **Time your next car inside the 30-day loyalty window** if you want the extra $750 waiver, and check the 180-day window for mileage benefits.
- **Return the car only to a Honda or Acura dealer,** keep the Vehicle Return Receipt, and call the Lease Maturity Center afterwards.
- **Keep the final bill in view:** wear, miles and the turn-in fee arrive later and may carry sales tax.

They are two trade names of one company: “Honda Financial Services and Acura Financial Services are DBAs of American Honda Finance Corporation,” AHFC’s terms say. They share one account site and one set of help articles; the differences are in the lease benefits.

### Who owns my Acura lease?

AHFC buys the lease from your dealer, and the dealer assigns the lease and the car to Honda Lease Trust or its trustee, HVT, Inc., depending on your state, AHFC’s 10-K says. That is the lessor named on the odometer form you sign at buyout.

### Can I pay Acura Financial Services with a credit card?

No. AFS says “We are unable to accept credit cards.” Debit goes through ACI Pay, which “assesses a processing fee,” and cash through Western Union or MoneyGram for their fees.

### How long does Acura Financial Services take to send the title?

AFS says a lien release or lease title takes 2 to 3 weeks on average after the final payment clears, depending on the state. A lease buyout title by mail takes 3 to 4 weeks once AFS has the odometer form, and in Ohio “up to 4-6 weeks.”

### Does Acura forgive excess miles at lease end?

Only if you come back. Under the Acura Loyalty Advantage, AFS waives half your excess miles, with a 7,500-mile limit, if you lease or finance a new Acura through AFS, and adds 1,000 miles to your next lease. AFS words the limit two ways, so get the waived figure in writing. If you walk away, the full excess is billed at the rate in your lease.

### Can a dealer other than Acura buy out my lease?

No. AFS says “lease purchases are only available to the lessee or authorized Honda and Acura dealers.” You can buy it yourself at the lease price and then sell it, or [finance the buyout](https://baronauto1.com/financing/refinance-a-car-loan/) elsewhere.
