## The short version

- Ford Credit is Ford Motor Credit Company LLC, an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Lincoln Automotive Financial Services is the same company; Ford Credit’s privacy notice calls it a “private label.”
- Pay from a bank account. Ford Credit says Guest Pay has “no fees” and prints no fee for Account Manager, the app, phone or mail. It “does not accept credit cards”; MoneyGram and Western Union take cards and set their own fees.
- Online and Guest Pay payments made before 9 p.m. ET post the same business day. A payoff can be scheduled up to 10 calendar days ahead, and Ford Credit says the title is mailed, or the lien released, within 10 days of the payoff date.
- Ford Credit prints no disposition-fee amount and no per-mile overage rate on any page we read; both come from your Red Carpet Lease Agreement. It does print its wear limits, and its web page and PDF disagree on one.
- The 10-K shows mostly prime lending (an average placement FICO of 753 in 2025) but longer loans: 14% of 2025 US retail contracts ran 84 months or more, and 21% in the second quarter of 2026.
- We found no CFPB enforcement action under Ford’s name. The record we could read is an FTC fair-lending settlement in 1999 ($650,000, no admission) and a 2004 multistate settlement over Red Carpet Lease early-termination charges.

Most people who search “Ford Credit” want to log in, pay, pay a loan off or end a lease. On 6 October 2026 we read what Ford Credit publishes on those tasks: its [Ways to Pay page](https://www.ford.com/finance/ways-to-pay/), its payment, payoff, title and lease FAQs, its lease-end and wear-and-use pages and PDFs, its protection page, its privacy notice and its [Terms and Conditions](https://www.ford.com/finance/terms-and-conditions/). We also read Ford Motor Credit’s [10-K for 2025](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/38009/000003800926000010/fmcc-20251231.htm) and 10-Q to 30 June 2026, the CFPB’s enforcement list, an FTC release and a New York Attorney General release, and counted the CFPB complaints filed under the company’s name. We entered no login, payment or credit application, and this site has no commercial relationship with Ford or any lender. Where Ford Credit’s documents disagree, we say so.

**Figure: Ford Credit: what its own pages say**

A two-column table of seven account tasks set against Ford Credit’s own pages: Guest Pay is free and no fee is printed for Account Manager, the app, phone or mail; Ford Credit does not accept credit cards, though MoneyGram and Western Union take them for their own fees; online and Guest Pay payments before 9 p.m. ET post the same business day and phone payments before 5 p.m. ET are credited the next; a payoff can be scheduled up to 10 calendar days ahead, with paid-in-full documents typically in 7 to 10 business days; the title is mailed or the lien released within 10 days, though an electronic-title state can take upwards of 6 weeks to send paper; excess miles are charged at the contract’s rate with no per-mile figure printed; and a lease goes back to the originating dealer, or any participating Ford dealer after a move, with a disposition fee if the lease discloses one.

Read from Ford Credit’s payment, payoff, title and lease-end pages and FAQs on 6 October 2026. No login, payment or credit application was entered.

## Who Ford Credit is

Ford Credit is a trade name. The company, Ford Motor Credit Company LLC, “was incorporated in Delaware in 1959 and converted to a limited liability company in 2007,” and its 10-K says “We are an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company.” It files its own reports with the SEC, which is why this page can quote its loan figures.

Lincoln drivers deal with the same lender. The 10-K says “Under the Ford Credit, Lincoln Automotive Financial Services, and Ford Pro FinSimple brand names, we provide financing services to and through dealers of Ford and Lincoln vehicles.” The privacy notice is issued by “Ford Credit, which includes the private label Lincoln Automotive Financial Services,” and the accident FAQ applies one rule to “FMCC and LAFS.” We did not read Lincoln’s own pages.

Ford Credit does not set your rate online. Its terms say “Individual dealers set the actual transaction price and lease or finance terms.” The dealer writes the contract and Ford Credit buys it if it meets its standards, judging “the applicant, the credit application, the proposed contract terms, credit bureau information (e.g., FICO score), proprietary risk score, and other information.” The price it pays the dealer includes “any additional products, such as insurance and extended service plans, that are included in the contract,” so add-ons are financed at your rate. Our guide to [the buy rate](https://baronauto1.com/financing/credit-score-to-buy-a-car/#buy-rate) explains how a dealer’s rate can differ from the lender’s.

The web address is a detour: www.fordcredit.com has no pages of its own and redirected us to ford.com/finance, where every Ford Credit page here lives. And a bank is coming: on 22 January 2026 the FDIC conditionally approved deposit insurance for a planned Ford Credit Bank.

## How to pay Ford Credit, and what each way costs

Ford Credit lists eight routes: the app, Account Manager, Guest Pay, telephone, mail, wire transfer, combined billing and payroll deduction. Apart from payroll deduction, every route it runs itself draws on a bank account.

**Ways to pay a Ford Credit account, with the fees and posting times Ford Credit prints, read 6 October 2026**

| Method | Fee Ford Credit prints | When it posts, per Ford Credit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Account Manager or the app | None printed | Same day “if submitted before 9 p.m. ET” |
| Automatic payments | None printed | On the due date; next business day if it is not one |
| Guest Pay (no login) | “There are no fees for using it” | Same business day before 9 p.m. ET; checking accounts only |
| Telephone | None printed | Before 5 p.m. ET on a weekday: credited the next business day, posted within two |
| Mail | None printed | Not stated |
| MoneyGram or Western Union | Their own; fees “may differ by agent” | Same business day if received before 6 p.m. ET |
| Payroll deduction | None printed | Ford and government employees only; not for leases |

Cards are the trap. Ford Credit “does not accept credit cards for monthly lease or retail payments, but you may pay through MoneyGram or Western Union with a credit or debit card,” and sends you to those companies “for fee details.” It prints no amount, so a card payment costs whatever the agent charges.

Guest Pay is the way to pay without logging in: “a no-fee online way to make a one-time, same-day payment,” available 24/7. Besides a checking account, it asks for the account number and the last four digits of the holder’s Social Security number, which is why Ford Credit says someone else can pay for you with them. Guard those two items.

Autopay has limits. Changes must be made “before 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), two or more business days before your due date,” and “You cannot choose the automatic payment amount.” To pay extra, make a separate “Principal Only” payment on a loan or “Custom Amount” on a lease. A principal-only payment needs a current account and “does not satisfy your regular monthly payment obligation, or count as an advance payment for future months.” Statements are “generated 17-20 days before your scheduled due date,” so a missing one is usually filed under the previous month.

## Due dates, extensions and falling behind

The amount due can double overnight. Ford Credit says the balance shown “includes any payment currently due, plus the next scheduled payment. If your account is even one day past due, the total will update to include both.” To pay only the late one, choose a custom amount.

Ford Credit prints no late-charge amount and no grace period: “A late charge may be assessed if the payment is not received within the specified payment period according to your contract,” and “Past-due payments may be reported to the credit reporting agencies at 30, 60 and 90 days past due.”

You can move your due date online if the account is current, but “You can only move the account 29 days over the life of the contract,” everyone on the contract must sign within five days, and a payment that reaches 30 days past due before the change is processed may still be reported.

For short-term trouble Ford Credit offers payment extensions, which defer payments and push the maturity date back. Its 10-K says the problem should be temporary, you need “an income source for making the next payment,” and you must have made “at least one payment since the contract’s origination.” Three costs follow:

- **A possible fee.** The 10-K says “When allowed by state law, we usually collect a fee on extensions.” The FAQ says any fee “will be disclosed on the extension form.” Neither prints an amount.
- **More interest on a loan.** Above a 0% rate, interest keeps accruing, and you may end up “owing more finance charges (interest) over the term of your contract than originally disclosed,” with a larger last payment. “Interest does not accrue on lease extensions.”
- **No extra coverage.** “The extension does not extend coverage of any insurance products, service contracts or other ancillary products.”

If payments stop, the 10-K calls repossession “a final step that we undertake only after all other collection efforts have failed.” After a sale, “The customer typically remains liable for any deficiency between net auction proceeds and the defaulted contract obligations, including any repossession-related expenses.” Some states let you reinstate; see our guide to [getting a repossessed car back](https://baronauto1.com/financing/car-repossession/#getting-it-back).

## Paying off the loan and getting your title

You can pay off a retail account in the app, in Account Manager or by personal or cashier’s check. Online, “Payoffs can only be scheduled up to 10 calendar days in advance.” The page does not say how long a payoff quote stays valid. Cancel autopay or any smaller scheduled payment first (by 9 p.m. ET, two business days ahead) to avoid paying twice; if you do overpay, “please allow 10 business days for a refund.”

**What Ford Credit says happens after a retail loan is paid off, read 6 October 2026**

| Situation | What Ford Credit does | Then |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Any payoff | “we typically issue your paid-in-full documents within 7–10 business days of receiving the payoff” | Check your address in Account Manager |
| Paper-title state, Ford Credit holds the title | Mails the title “within 10 days of your payoff date” | Nothing more from Ford Credit |
| Paper-title state, you hold the title | Mails a lien release within 10 days | Take it to your motor vehicle agency if required |
| Electronic-title state | Releases the lien within 10 days | The state mails a paper title, which “can take upwards of 6 weeks”; some states wait for a request (“fees may apply”) |
| Paid off by a dealer, lender or insurer | Sends the title or lien release to the party that paid | Ask that party for it |

The two FAQs use different clocks: “7–10 business days” on the payoff page, “10 days” on the title page without saying business days. Allow the longer reading before you chase. Title problems after payoff are a recurring CFPB complaint, as the counts below show.

If you move state with a financed car, “you must request documents from Ford Credit and provide them to your new state’s Department of Motor Vehicles”; Account Manager lists the steps, and “Some states do not require customers to transfer the title.”

## Ending a Red Carpet Lease: return, buy or replace

Ford Credit’s retail lease is Red Carpet Lease, its “highest volume retail-leasing plan,” with US terms “primarily from 24 to 48 months” and an average of 37 months in 2025. Its Lease-End page compares the three ways out:

**Ford Credit’s lease-end options as its Lease-End page compares them, read 6 October 2026**

| | Get a new Ford | Buy your current Ford | Return your Ford |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Inspection | At lease end | Not required | At lease end |
| Excess wear and use | You pay | Not applicable | You pay |
| Excess mileage | You pay | Not applicable | You pay |
| Fees | “See dealer for details” | Taxes and official fees may be charged | “A Disposition Fee applies to returned vehicles” |

Return the car to the dealer that wrote the lease or, if you have moved, to “any participating Ford Dealer,” by appointment. You sign the odometer statement, “required by federal law,” and hand over everything that came with the car; Ford Credit’s checklist names keys and fobs, floor mats, cargo covers, crossbars, manuals, the original wheels and the EV charging cord. Then cancel your automatic payments. Ford Credit says that “Under certain circumstances, you may be able to extend your lease” and that you should finish “by your lease-end date to avoid additional charges.”

Buying is possible only “if a purchase option is listed in your agreement or by your dealer,” and “Electric vehicles may not be eligible for purchase at lease-end.” The price is in your Red Carpet Lease Agreement or Account Manager; the originating dealer quotes it with taxes. Buying ends the lease charges: “When you purchase your lease, you are not responsible for any excess mileage charges or excess wear and use charges.” Our [lease buyout guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/lease-buyout/#residual) covers the fees to check.

Ending early has no published price: follow “the Voluntary Early Termination section of your Lease Agreement.” Handing the lease on is possible: the self-service FAQ lists “Transfer of Equity/Lease: Transfer the lease or finance contract of your vehicle to another person,” with no fee or rule printed. Our [lease takeover guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/car-lease-takeover/#which-lessors) compares lessors.

**Ford Credit does not print the two numbers lessees search for most.** We found no disposition-fee amount and no per-mile overage rate on any Ford Credit page or PDF. The fee applies “if disclosed on the Lease Agreement,” and the mileage charge is in the Red Carpet Lease Agreement. Open your Digital Contract in Account Manager (available for agreements from August 2019) before turn-in day.

## Mileage, wear and the disposition fee

“Any mileage that exceeds the amount allowed on your contract is assessed a charge at lease-end,” Ford Credit says, but “If you choose to purchase your vehicle at lease-end, you will not be charged for any additional mileage.” The 10-K mentions programs that let customers “purchase refundable higher mileage allowances” at signing; no Ford Credit page describes that, so ask the dealer before you sign.

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over the photograph mark the trip distance, the speed readout and the gear indicator, with Ford Credit's unpublished per-mile overage rate, its payoff scheduling and title-release timing, and where a lease can be returned after a move.

Ford Credit’s lease-end pages, read on 6 October 2026, print no per-mile overage rate and leave it to the Red Carpet Lease Agreement (callout 1); its payoff and title FAQs say a payoff can be scheduled up to 10 days ahead and the title or lien release follows within 10 days (callout 2); and its lease-end options say a customer who has moved can return the car to any participating Ford dealer (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

Ford Credit also offers to roll the bill forward. The originating dealer “may be able to work with you to move your excess mileage charges to your next contract,” “Typically there is no upfront cost,” and Ford Credit suggests dividing the charge by the next term to estimate the effect. As a hypothetical, a $1,000 mileage bill adds about $27.78 a month over 36 months or $20.83 over 48, by our arithmetic, before finance charges. Ford Credit warns it “could result in a higher monthly payment.”

Ford Credit publishes its wear limits:

**Normal against excess wear and use on Ford Credit’s Wear and Use page (read 6 October 2026); your Red Carpet Lease Agreement governs**

| Item | Normal wear and use | Excess (chargeable) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Body dings, dents, scratches | Up to three per panel, up to 4 inches across | Four or more per panel, or any over 4 inches |
| Glass | No glass damage | “All glass damage is chargeable” |
| Lenses | Scratches and scuffs | Cracked or broken |
| Wheels | Scratches and gouges up to 6 inches | Over 6 inches |
| Tires | No sidewall damage, plugs or exposed cords | Any of those, or tires that do not match the vehicle |
| Burn holes | Up to two per panel, up to 1/8 inch | Three or more, or any over 1/8 inch |
| Stains | One per panel, up to 1/2 inch | Two per panel, or any over 1/2 inch |
| Cuts and tears | Up to two per panel, up to 1/2 inch | Three or more, or any over 1/2 inch |

The PDF guidelines (file dated 12.21.23) differ. They allow “Up to fifteen (15) paint chips per panel,” which the web page never mentions, set burn holes at “diameters up to 1/4 inch” rather than 1/8, and charge glass as a repair for up to two chips per panel within a 1-inch circle, replacement otherwise. Keep a copy and ask which version the inspector uses. Both add missing parts, poor repairs, mechanical or electrical faults and mismatched tires.

The inspection is your chance to fix things first, and the documents disagree on who books it. The Lease-End page says you can “schedule a complimentary pre-inspection within 60-days of your lease-end date”; the Lease Renewal Guide says to book Manheim Mobile Inspections yourself; the checklist says you “should be contacted” about 60 days out. If nobody calls, book it. Ford Credit says inspections “typically take 30 minutes” and end with a Vehicle Condition Report.

Two things can waive charges. WearCare, bought at signing for leases of up to 48 months, waives excess wear and use “up to $5,000 in most cases”; it excludes mileage and missing parts costing more than $200. And Ford Credit offers loyalty waivers: the Wear and Use page says customers who take “a new Ford or Lincoln vehicle may be eligible” for a disposition-fee waiver, while the Lease Renewal Guide adds Ford Blue Advantage and [Lincoln Certified Pre-Owned](https://baronauto1.com/buying-guides/lincoln-certified-pre-owned/) vehicles and a wear waiver that “requires payment of all other remaining charges and renewal into a new Ford Credit retail contract or Lease Agreement.” No amount is printed, and the guide says the offer “may be canceled at any time.” Our [lease-or-buy guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/lease-vs-buy-car/#mileage) explains allowances.

## GAP, accidents and the hard moments

Ford Credit sells GAPCoverage at signing. It covers the gap between your insurance payoff and the finance balance and, Ford Credit says, “up to $1,000 of your insurance deductible,” for terms of “up to 96 months”; GAPAdvantage adds “an additional $1,000” toward a new vehicle. GAP does not pay late charges or “Termination and disposition fees,” and no price is printed. Our [GAP guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/gap-insurance/#cancel) covers cancelling and refunds.

After an accident, keep paying: “It is critical to continue making your regular monthly payments until the claim is fully resolved.” You are “generally responsible for your deductible and any balance not covered by the primary insurance company,” and GAP is filed separately. On a lease, “FMCC and LAFS does not allow diminished value claims.”

- **Military service.** The 10-K says the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act bars Ford Credit “from charging interest in excess of 6%” for eligible customers; its self-service menu offers to return a leased vehicle early or cut a loan rate to 6%.
- **A death on the account.** Under the Peace of Mind Program, qualified parties “may return the vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership within 60 days of the customer’s death,” and “Ford Credit will not pursue any remaining obligation on the contract.” Contracts dated before 1 January 2016 do not qualify.
- **A wrong credit report.** Ford Credit takes disputes in writing, with the account number, the entry and dates disputed, and a copy of the report page.

On privacy, the notice (Rev. 10/2024) says Ford Credit shares data with affiliates, including Ford Motor Company, and with dealers and insurers as joint marketing partners. You can stop only affiliates marketing to you, and the notice says to “Mail the form below” to do it.

## What the filings say about Ford Credit’s loans and leases

Ford Credit financed 41% of new Ford and Lincoln vehicles sold in the US in 2025 (fleet sales excluded), down from 53%, and placed 745 thousand US contracts; its 10-K says “Ford’s marketing programs may encourage or require Ford Credit financing.” The average US retail contract ran 65 months. The filings print these measures:

**Ford Credit US retail and lease measures from its 10-K for 2025 and 10-Q to 30 June 2026**

| Measure | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | First half 2026 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Average placement FICO | 756 | 756 | 753 | 746 |
| Higher-risk share of placements | 4% | 3% | 3% | 3% |
| Retail contracts of 84 months or more | 8% | 7% | 14% | 17% |
| Over-60-day delinquencies | 0.18% | 0.19% | 0.18% | 0.19% |
| Repossessions | 16 thousand | 21 thousand | 24 thousand | 13 thousand |
| Repossession ratio | 0.85% | 1.08% | 1.23% | 1.33% |
| Loss severity | $12.2 thousand | $16.1 thousand | $17.3 thousand | $17.3 thousand |
| Net charge-offs, US retail | $184 million | $301 million | $362 million | $185 million |

This is mostly prime lending: the higher-risk business “represents 3% of our portfolio and has been stable for over 15 years.” But terms are stretching. Contracts of 84 months or longer doubled as a share in 2025, by our arithmetic, which the 10-K puts down to “changes in Ford’s marketing programs,” and reached 21% in the second quarter of 2026. A longer term lowers the payment but keeps you owing more than the car is worth for longer; see our guide to [negative equity](https://baronauto1.com/financing/negative-equity-car-loan/). Repossessions rose 50% from 2023 to 2025, by our arithmetic, and the ratio rose again in 2026.

Loss severity is the figure that lands on borrowers: “The expected difference between the amount a customer owes when the finance contract is charged off and the amount received, net of expenses, from selling the repossessed vehicle,” $17.3 thousand in 2025. Since Ford Credit pursues deficiencies, that is roughly what a repossessed borrower can still be billed for, before recoveries. Across the worldwide consumer book at 31 December 2025, 98.5% was current, $934 million (1.1%) was 31 to 60 days past due and $320 million (0.4%) more than 60 days.

On leases, Ford Credit’s share of US retail sales was 14% in 2025, against 21% for the industry. Its lease return rate fell to 45% from 52%, because “more customers and dealers are electing to purchase the off-lease vehicles.” Off-lease auction values averaged $31,475, up 3%, and Ford Credit expected them “to decline in 2026”; the first half averaged $32,005 with a 43% return rate. When used values run high, a buyout at the contract price deserves a look.

## Regulators and courts: what the record shows

Each record below is described only as the document we read describes it.

**CFPB.** The CFPB’s enforcement list, filtered by the title “ford” on 6 October 2026, returned “Sorry, there were no results based on your filter selections.” (The same filter finds Toyota Motor Credit’s two actions.) Ford Credit’s 10-K says the CFPB can supervise it and that “in response to audits, inspections, or investigations conducted by regulatory authorities, Ford Credit has in the past modified and may in the future modify its operations or take other actions, such as remunerating customers.” It names no matter, and supervisory findings are not published by name.

**FTC, 1999.** On 9 December 1999 the FTC announced that Ford Credit would pay $650,000, “covering consumer redress and the costs to administer such redress, for alleged violations of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.” The FTC alleged that from May 1994 to August 1995 Ford Credit failed “to aggregate the income of unmarried joint applicants, while combining incomes for applicants who were married.” The consent decree was filed in the Eastern District of Michigan and, the release says, “does not constitute an admission by the defendant of a law violation.”

**New York and 37 other states, 2004.** On 10 June 2004 New York’s Attorney General announced a settlement with Ford Motor Credit and “over 1,300 participating Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealers.” Investigators found that terminating a Red Carpet Lease early to buy the car “resulted in undisclosed and unauthorized charges being added to the lease pay-off quote,” which dealers kept because the figure “was provided by their dealer instead of coming directly from Ford Motor Credit.” Consumers who terminated leases early from 1991 to 1999 without a Ford Motor Credit quote “may be eligible for $100 refunds,” about 150,000 people; the parties paid over $6.2 million in fees and costs, $500,000 from Ford Motor Credit, which also agreed to rewrite its lease language. The lesson holds: get your payoff from Ford Credit, not only the dealer. Georgia’s and Washington’s releases would not open for us.

**Jones, 2005.** Ford Motor Credit’s 10-K for 2005 reported that plaintiffs in Jones v. Ford Motor Credit Company “allege that our pricing practices discriminate against African-Americans,” and that a preliminarily approved settlement faced a fairness hearing “scheduled for May 31, 2006.” We did not read the court record and do not state the outcome.

**Today.** The 2025 10-K says matters are pending, some “or purport to be, class actions,” and that any liability “should not materially affect our operations, financial condition, or liquidity.” Neither it nor the 10-Q names a consumer case. Searches of justice.gov found no Justice Department case against Ford Motor Credit, which is not proof none exists.

## What the CFPB complaint database shows

The CFPB’s database holds 3,745 complaints under “FORD MOTOR CREDIT CO.” from March 2012 to 26 September 2026. They are unverified consumer reports, and counts grow with a lender’s size (Ford Credit placed 745 thousand US contracts in 2025 alone), so they show what goes wrong, not how often. The CFPB stopped publishing narratives on 30 September 2026; we count categories only.

**CFPB complaints under FORD MOTOR CREDIT CO., by type, pulled 6 October 2026**

| Category | Complaints | Share |
| --- | --- | --- |
| All products | 3,745 | 100% |
| Credit reporting (three CFPB labels) | 1,578 | 42.1% |
| Vehicle loan or lease (828 loans, 356 leases) | 1,184 | 31.6% |
| Debt collection | 533 | 14.2% |
| Tagged Servicemember | 410 | 10.9% |

Inside the vehicle file, the commonest sub-issue is billing (165). Repossession accounts for 116 and struggling to pay for 142, including 68 denied requests to lower payments. At the end of the contract, 63 concern a title or other problem after payoff, 42 paying off the loan, 26 early lease-termination fees, 25 lease mileage or wear fees and 14 buying the car at lease end. Add-on products account for 66.

Ford Credit closed 243 vehicle complaints (20.5%) with monetary or non-monetary relief, against 9.4% across all 104,347 vehicle loan or lease complaints, by our arithmetic; it accounts for 1.1% of them. Volume is rising: 662 complaints in 2025, about twice the 336 of 2023.

## Before you pay off, return or sign

- **Pay from a bank account.** Ford Credit says Guest Pay is free and prints no fee for its own routes; a card means MoneyGram or Western Union fees.
- **Beat the cut-off.** 9 p.m. ET online for same-day posting; change autopay at least two business days before the due date.
- **Read your contract.** The late charge, extension fee, disposition fee and per-mile rate are in your contract or Red Carpet Lease Agreement, not on the website.
- **Cancel autopay before a payoff** and keep your address current for the title or lien release.
- **Get a lease payoff from Ford Credit directly** and compare it with the dealer’s figure; that gap is what the 2004 settlement was about.
- **Book the inspection about 60 days out**, fix what the report finds, and bring every key, mat, manual and charging cord.

## Common questions

### Is Ford Credit the same as Ford Motor Company?

No, but Ford owns it. Ford Motor Credit Company LLC is an indirect, wholly owned Ford subsidiary with its own SEC filings. Lincoln Automotive Financial Services is the same company under another name.

### Can I pay my Ford Credit bill with a credit card?

Not directly. Ford Credit “does not accept credit cards for monthly lease or retail payments.” MoneyGram and Western Union accept cards for a Ford Credit payment, with fees that “may differ by agent.” Guest Pay needs no login and is free, but draws on a checking account.

### How long does it take to get my title from Ford Credit?

Ford Credit says it mails the title, or a lien release if you hold the title, within 10 days of the payoff date in paper-title states. In electronic-title states it releases the lien within 10 days and the state mails the title, which “can take upwards of 6 weeks.”

### What is the Ford Credit disposition fee?

A charge on returning a leased car that “applies to returned vehicles, if disclosed on the Lease Agreement.” Ford Credit prints no amount; check your Red Carpet Lease Agreement. Customers who take a new Ford or Lincoln, and per the Lease Renewal Guide some certified used ones, “may be eligible for a waiver.”

### How much does Ford Credit charge per mile over the allowance?

It does not publish a figure. Excess miles are “assessed a charge at lease-end” at your contract’s rate; buying the car means you “will not be charged for any additional mileage,” and a dealer may roll the charge into your next contract.

### Can I refinance a Ford Credit loan or hand over my lease?

Another lender can pay off the loan at any time and receives the title; our guide to [refinancing a car loan](https://baronauto1.com/financing/refinance-a-car-loan/) covers when it pays. For a lease, Ford Credit lists a “Transfer of Equity/Lease” with no published fee.
