# Gravity Lending Review: Who Lends, the Hard Pull and the Fine Print

> Gravity Lending arranges refinance loans that partner lenders make. Its hard credit pull, fees, $128 savings claim, Texas licence, arbitration and CFPB record.

## The short version

- Gravity Lending arranges car refinance and lease-buyout loans; a partner lender approves and funds them. Its own posts call it “a refinance brokerage” and “a broker,” and no page we read names a lender.
- The Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner lists Gravity Lending as the business name of Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC, holder of Regulated Lender licence 162084, now “Transitioned to NMLS.” Gravity’s site prints no NMLS number and no other state licence.
- Gravity’s FAQ says it “will ‘pull your credit’ with a hard pull” before presenting offers, although its application page is titled “Pre-Qualify.”
- Gravity charges no service fee, but the same FAQ answer says the new loan includes title transfer fees, any state fee, and GAP or a service contract if you add them. No add-on price is printed anywhere.
- Its “$128 a month” average covers loans funded 1 June to 31 August 2026, and the payment depends on the term you pick. Gravity’s FAQ offers terms of 25 to 84 months.
- The CFPB database holds 37 complaints against Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC received through 15 October 2026; 20 are about credit reports, 12 of them about inquiries the consumer did not recognize. Disputes go to arbitration, with no opt-out.

Gravity Lending is an Austin, Texas, auto refinance company that takes your application, matches it to one of its partner lenders and handles the paperwork; the lender, not Gravity, approves and funds the loan. On 16 October 2026 we read Gravity’s [Terms and Conditions](https://gravitylending.com/terms-and-conditions/) (updated 28 August 2025), [Privacy Policy](https://gravitylending.com/privacy-policy/) (effective 22 July 2025), [FAQ](https://gravitylending.com/faq/), process, glossary, lender, partner and add-on pages, its footer disclosures and 17 of its blog posts. We also searched the Texas regulator’s licensee database, read an order it issued, and ran CFPB complaint and enforcement searches and an EDGAR search. We started no rate check or application, so this page contains no Gravity offer, and this site has no commercial relationship with Gravity Lending or any lender.

**Figure: Gravity Lending’s headline promises, read against its own fine print**

A seven-row table setting Gravity Lending’s up-front promises against its own documents: its application page is titled Pre-Qualify but its FAQ says it runs a hard credit pull; its no-cost promise sits beside the FAQ’s list of title, state and add-on costs on the new loan; its $128 monthly average covers loans funded 1 June to 31 August 2026 and depends on the term selected; no page says whether interest runs during its 90-day first-payment deferral; a partner lender it does not name approves the loan; the Texas OCCC lists its licence, 162084, under Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC; and its arbitration clause has no opt-out.

## What Gravity Lending is, and who actually lends

Gravity’s Terms describe a go-between. Submitting “a refinancing inquiry through Gravity Lending” lets Gravity “and its trusted partners” pull your consumer report, and you “consent to the sharing of your inquiry or application information with our lender network.” Then: “Gravity Lending does not guarantee that you will receive a loan offer from any lender. Loan availability is subject to lender approval.” After you apply, the confirmation screen says your Loan Consultant “will match you with one of our preferred lenders.”

The company has described itself both ways. A December 2021 post says it “started with the goal of being a digital-first auto lending company,” and a March 2022 post is headed “Launching a Digital-first Auto Lender.” By 2025 the wording had settled: “Working with a refinance brokerage like Gravity Lending gives you access to multiple lenders” (November 2025) and “Working with a broker like Gravity Lending offers key advantages” (July 2025).

Its [partner page](https://gravitylending.com/become-a-partner/) says Gravity works “with a network of credit unions, banks, and financial institutions,” operates “in all 50 states” and originates “for both prime and subprime,” using “lender guidelines to decide where we place loans.” The Privacy Policy adds: “All lenders in the Gravity Lending network are FDIC-insured banks or licensed lenders (if applicable).” Its page for prospective lenders is written to credit unions, which “maintain full control over rates & guidelines.” No page names a lender, so the legal name on your contract is the first thing to check. How Gravity earns its money is not stated either: it charges borrowers no service fee, and its lender page says it is “NOT charging your members for our services.”

## Who owns Gravity Lending, and the licence behind it

Gravity’s Privacy Policy says it “is licensed as a registered lender with the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner.” On 16 October 2026 we checked the regulator’s public licensee search, the one its [Regulated Lenders page](https://occc.texas.gov/industry/regulated-lenders/) links to. A search for “Gravity” returned Regulated Lender licence 162084, business name “Gravity Lending,” Austin. Its owner/entity name is **Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC**, and its status reads “Transitioned to NMLS.” A search for “Wildhorse” returned that licence alone; the registration search found nothing under either name.

So the licence exists under a different label: the OCCC calls it a Regulated Lender licence, which Texas requires of non-depository lenders making loans “with a rate of interest greater than 10%.” Its status means it is now administered through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, but we could not read that record: NMLS Consumer Access answered with a Cloudflare challenge, which we did not try to get past. Gravity prints no NMLS number, and although its partner page claims all 50 states, no page lists a licence outside Texas. Its Terms limit loans to residents of states where Gravity “or its lender network, is licensed (if required) or otherwise authorized.”

The search also found **Gravity Financial Services LLC**, an Austin property tax lender with licence 164888, also transitioned to NMLS. Gravity Lending’s Privacy Policy pairs the two names, offering an opt-out of “Gravity Lending & Gravity Financial Services’ sale of your personal information,” and a July 2022 post said “Gravity Lending offers tax lien loans for help paying your property taxes.” Nothing we read says whether the two share owners. A third match, AutoGravity Corporation of California, holds a cancelled licence and is unrelated as far as we found.

Who owns Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC is not public in anything we could read. Gravity’s 2021 and 2022 posts describe its chief executive as its founder, and no page names a parent or investor. EDGAR has no filing by either company: “Gravity Lending” returned no hits, and the four for “Wildhorse Financial” are 2018 filings about an unrelated oil and gas company. Texas’s open-data portal refused our request, so we read no franchise-tax or Secretary of State record. A February 2026 Gravity post, quoting Auto Finance News, says its “originations rose 78% year over year in 2025”; we could not check that.

## What Gravity offers, and who it says qualifies

Gravity’s contact page sums up the menu: “We specialize in custom, no-fee auto refinancing, lease buyouts, and cash-out loans nationwide.” How much of that is documented varies.

- **Refinancing** is the core product, described on the FAQ, the [Our Process page](https://gravitylending.com/our-process/) and the home page.
- **Lease buyouts** get one paragraph on Our Process: “You can buy out your lease at any time during the lease period.” The dedicated Lease Buyout page was served with an empty content area when we read it. Our [lease buyout guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/lease-buyout/) covers how to read your contract’s purchase option.
- **Cash-out loans** appear in that one contact-page sentence and nowhere else; no page gives terms or limits.
- **Adding or removing a co-borrower** is covered on Our Process: refinancing “creates a new loan in your name.” That dedicated page was empty too, as was the Products page.

The eligibility rules Gravity prints are thin. The Terms require you to be “at least 18 years old.” The FAQ says “Gravity Lending offers 25-84 month terms,” varying with “your credit situation, your vehicle, and other factors.” A July 2023 post says “Gravity Lending requires a minimum loan balance of $10k to refinance,” a rule the FAQ does not repeat. Gravity prints no minimum credit score, income, loan amount, vehicle age or mileage. A May 2026 post says “Most lenders set a minimum FICO score of 600”: general advice, not a stated Gravity minimum. Our pages on [credit scores and car loans](https://baronauto1.com/financing/credit-score-to-buy-a-car/) and [negative equity](https://baronauto1.com/financing/negative-equity-car-loan/) explain how lenders weigh both.

To finish a refinance, Our Process says “lenders will require a valid driver’s license” and “Income verification may also be requested,” plus the VIN, odometer reading, title or registration, and your payoff amount and lender name. The [application](https://gravitylending.com/apply-now/) asks, in four steps, for your loan balance, vehicle and mileage, employment and monthly income, housing payment and address, date of birth, phone, email and a Social Security number marked “Optional.” Its state list has 51 entries: the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

## What it costs, and how Gravity words its rates

Gravity’s fee answer is in its FAQ: “It costs you nothing to refinance with Gravity Lending – we do not charge you any fees for our service. Your new auto loan will only include the loan amount, any fees associated with title transfer, any fee your state charges, and the cost of GAP – VSC if you choose to obtain them.” The first sentence is about Gravity’s fee; the second says the loan you sign can be larger than your payoff. No page gives an amount for title or state fees, and none prices GAP or a service contract.

**What Gravity Lending prints about money, read 16 October 2026**

| Item | What Gravity says | Where |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Gravity’s own fee | “we do not charge you any fees for our service” | FAQ |
| Documentation fee | “At Gravity Lending, we do not charge documentation fees” | Glossary |
| Added to the new loan | Title transfer fees, any state fee, GAP or VSC if chosen; no amounts | FAQ |
| Prepayment penalty | “Gravity Lending does not offer loans with early payment penalties” | Blog, 11 July 2023 |
| Who sets your rate | A partner lender, with “full control over rates & guidelines” | Lender page |

The rate wording sits in the footer of every page: “The APR you qualify for may differ based on a number of factors including your credit profile, the year model of the vehicle, your debt ratio, the loan length, and the loan to vehicle value ratio.” The home page also advertises a rate “as low as” a set figure, footnoted to “a representative example of refinancing with a FICO score of 740 or higher for 36 months.” We do not repeat advertised rates, which change. The conditions are the useful part: your offer will come from the lender, priced on your own score, car and term.

Here is how the printed terms of other refinance services this site has read compare, each copied from that page’s records with its read date. It is not a ranking.

**Printed terms of six refinance services, in their own words**

## The $128 a month claim, and what a longer term does

Gravity’s home page says: “Our customers save an average of $128 on their monthly car payment after refinancing,” or “over $1,500 back in your pocket every year.” The footnote says the average “was calculated from all funded loans from June 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026,” and that “Payment is a calculation of the approved interest rate, selected term, and amount financed.” By our arithmetic, $128 times 12 is $1,536: twelve months of a lower payment, not interest saved. The second figure, “Save 18% on your car payment,” counts only funded applications “where our clients paid less monthly over the life of the loan.” Neither footnote says how much of the saving came from a longer term.

Gravity’s own pages pull in two directions here. Our Process lists “Longer loan term” first under “How refinancing saves you money.” A November 2025 post says extending “increases the total interest paid over time,” and gives an example: $20,000 left, 48 months to go at 9%, a payment of “around $498,” refinanced at 6% for 48 months to “about $470,” saving “$28 per month.” Our arithmetic confirms those figures and puts the total at $1,344. We then stretched the same loan to the longer terms Gravity offers.

**Gravity’s own $20,000 example, stretched (our arithmetic; fees, taxes and add-ons ignored)**

| Loan | Rate and term | Monthly payment | Interest still to pay | Against keeping the old loan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Current loan | 9%, 48 months left | $498 | $3,890 | The baseline |
| Gravity’s example | 6%, 48 months | $470 | $2,546 | $28 a month lower; $1,344 less interest |
| Same rate, stretched | 6%, 72 months | $331 | $3,865 | About $25 less interest; 24 more payments |
| Same rate, longest term | 6%, 84 months | $292 | $4,542 | $206 a month lower; $653 more interest; 36 more payments |

Even at a rate three points lower, the 84-month version costs more than keeping the old loan, and both stretched versions would lift a monthly-savings average. Gravity’s loan officer, its process page says, lets you “shorten your term to save on interest, or stretch it out to lower your monthly payment.” Ask for the same-term offer as well as any longer one. Our [refinancing guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/refinance-a-car-loan/#when-worth-it) sets out the test: the total you will pay.

**A lower payment is not the same as a cheaper loan.** Gravity’s averages measure payment cuts, and its footnote says the payment depends on the term you select. On Gravity’s own example, stretching to 84 months cuts the payment by $206 but adds $653 of interest. Compare totals, not payments.

## From application to payoff: the credit check and the first payment

The credit check is the point most likely to surprise. Gravity’s application page is titled “Pre-Qualify to Refinance Your Auto Loan at Gravity Lending,” Our Process invites you to “See what you could save with no risk and no commitment,” and a 2021 Gravity post says prequalifying “will not hurt your credit score because the lender uses a ‘soft pull’.” But the FAQ is direct: “Gravity Lending will ‘pull your credit’ with a hard pull,” because “in order to present legitimate, credit based offers the credit pull is necessary.” Its own glossary says a hard inquiry “will typically impact your credit score.”

The FAQ says “The notice for the hard pull is listed in the form.” The form we read says only that you “authorize Gravity Lending to obtain my credit report,” with no mention of hard or soft. Plan on a hard inquiry. A May 2026 Gravity post says rate shopping “within a 14-day window typically counts as just one hard inquiry”; our [refinancing guide](https://baronauto1.com/financing/refinance-a-car-loan/#shopping) explains why bunching applications limits the damage. The application also opens with “Were you mailed a pre-qualified offer?” and a promo-code box, so Gravity markets by mail. Of the CFPB complaints against Wildhorse Financial Services, 12 concern credit inquiries the consumer did not recognize.

After the inquiry, Our Process lists 5 steps ending with electronic signing, after which “Gravity Lending handles the rest”; Gravity says it gets “your new lender” added to the title “through your state’s DMV.” The Terms say “You may withdraw your inquiry or application at any time.” On timing, the home page says “Most customers complete the entire process in under 10 minutes,” while a July 2026 Gravity post says the full process “typically takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks.” Keep paying your old loan until its lender confirms payoff; our list of [what lenders ask for](https://baronauto1.com/financing/refinance-a-car-loan/#what-you-need) covers the paperwork.

Then the deferral. The home page says you “may qualify to defer your first payment for up to 90 days” with “no fees, no penalties.” No Gravity page says whether interest builds during those days. Other services print it: Caribou says “Interest on the loan begins to accrue on the loan closing date,” and OpenRoad Lending says “Actual payment is not skipped but deferred.” If your lender works the same way, 90 days on Gravity’s $20,000 example at 6% adds about $296 of interest, by our arithmetic. Ask the lender, in writing, before you take the later date.

**Figure: Annotated photograph**

Three numbered callouts over the photograph mark the laptop, its keyboard and the car keys, each with one fact from Gravity Lending’s FAQ and loan pages.

Gravity Lending’s FAQ and loan pages, read on 16 October 2026: Gravity arranges the loan; a partner lender it does not name approves and funds it (callout 1); Its FAQ says seeing offers means a hard credit pull, not a soft one (callout 2); First payment can wait up to 90 days; no Gravity page says if interest runs meanwhile (callout 3). The photograph is illustrative.

## The add-on products, and what Gravity does not print

Gravity sells optional protection products with the loan; its glossary lists each one as something it offers when you refinance, and the FAQ folds GAP and service contracts into its fee answer. Here is what each product page says.

**Gravity Lending’s add-on products, as its own pages describe them (read 16 October 2026)**

| Product | What Gravity says it does | Terms it prints | Price |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) | Waives “all or a portion of the deficiency” between your payoff and the car’s actual cash value after a total loss or theft | “subject to a loan-to-value maximum” (not stated); suggested for terms over 60 months or down payments under 20% | “very affordable”; no figure |
| Vehicle Debt Protection | “death protection” that cancels the remaining balance | Up to $50,000; loans of 120 months or less; fees refunded if cancelled within 30 days | No figure |
| Vehicle Protection Plan (“MembersCare Edge”) | Tires, wheels, keys, dents, windshield chips, roadside help | Dents up to 4 inches; “transferable to a new owner” | No figure |
| Vehicle Service Contract | Repairs after the factory warranty ends | A 30-day “Free-Look” period with money back | “Low Monthly Cost”; no figure |
| Depreciation protection | Described two ways (below); its page redirects to the home page | None printed | No figure |

Two descriptions do not match. A July 2025 post calls depreciation protection “GAP-style coverage” for “the difference between your car’s actual cash value and your remaining loan balance.” A November 2025 post says that “Unlike GAP insurance,” it pays the difference between the car’s “MSRP or retail value” at purchase or refinance and the loan balance at the total loss. Those are different products. Debt protection is similar: the product page’s plan details describe death cover only, the same page says it makes “your auto payments for you in the event you cannot make your payment,” and the July 2025 post lists job loss, disability, illness and death. Only the contract you sign settles it.

That July post says these products often cost “just a few extra dollars per month.” A monthly figure hides the total. By our arithmetic, each $1,000 rolled into a loan at the 6% of Gravity’s own example over 84 months adds about $15 a month and $227 of interest. Ask for each product’s full price, provider and cancellation terms; our guides to [whether GAP is worth it](https://baronauto1.com/financing/is-gap-insurance-worth-it/) (and [GAP refunds](https://baronauto1.com/financing/is-gap-insurance-worth-it/#refunds)), [extended warranties](https://baronauto1.com/financing/is-an-extended-warranty-worth-it/) and [service contract costs](https://baronauto1.com/financing/extended-car-warranty-cost/) help with the answers.

## What you agree to: sharing, calls and arbitration

The Privacy Policy says “We do not sell your personal information to third parties,” and the application promises “We will not share your info without your approval.” The same policy gives residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia a “Do Not Sell or Share” right, and the Terms you accept by applying include consent to share your “inquiry or application information with our lender network.” Gravity says it aims to answer a verified privacy request within 45 days, and that “our System operates no differently” when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

The contact consent is broad: Gravity, “our agents, representatives, partners, or anyone calling on our behalf” may reach you “at any telephone number” you give, including with “prerecorded calls and messages delivered using an auto telephone dialing system.” On the application, clicking Next after your phone number, a step before the credit authorization, already means agreeing to the Terms. You can revoke consent by email or by unsubscribing. Gravity’s offer wall sends visitors to other companies’ insurance, loan, credit, repair and retirement offers; its partner page says the wall exists “to send our trusted partners web traffic.”

The dispute terms are printed, oddly, as item 2 under a “Credit Monitoring Service” heading, but they cover “any claim or dispute” with Gravity. Either side can send a claim to binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association’s consumer rules, with jury trial and class action waivers; small claims court stays open; Texas law governs. Three features differ from other refinance services this site has read:

- **No opt-out.** We found no way to reject arbitration. Caribou, RateGenius and Autopay each allow a rejection within 30 days.
- **Costs.** “We will pay all costs of arbitration, no matter who wins, so long as your claim is not frivolous.”
- **Credit-report claims are excluded.** Disputes that “relate to your credit report” or arise under the Fair Credit Reporting Act “are not subject to or governed by this agreement to arbitrate.”

These are Gravity’s terms; the lender’s loan contract is a separate document, so read its dispute clause too.

## Complaints and the public record

The CFPB’s [consumer complaint database](https://www.consumerfinance.gov/data-research/consumer-complaints/) files Gravity under its licensed entity: the database’s own company-name search returns “Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC” for “wildhorse” and nothing for “gravity.” It lists 37 complaints against that company received through 15 October 2026: 1 in 2023, 9 in 2024, 13 in 2025 and 14 so far in 2026. By product, 20 concern credit reporting and 17 vehicle loans. All 37 were “Closed with explanation,” none with relief, and 4 were not answered on time. These are unverified consumer reports, counts grow with a company’s size, and the CFPB has published no narratives since 30 September 2026.

**CFPB complaints against Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC, received through 15 October 2026, by issue**

| Issue (CFPB category) | Complaints | Largest sub-issues |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Improper use of your report | 20 | Credit inquiries the consumer did not recognize (12); report used improperly (6) |
| Getting a loan or lease | 10 | Confusing or misleading advertising or marketing (6); loan opened without the consumer’s consent or knowledge (2) |
| Managing the loan or lease | 3 | Fees charged (2); add-on products bought with the loan (1) |
| Problems at the end of the loan or lease | 2 | Problem related to refinancing (2) |
| Other credit reporting issues | 2 | Incorrect information on a report (1); the company’s investigation (1) |

More than half are about how a credit report was used, which fits a hard pull behind a “Pre-Qualify” page and offers sent by mail; six are labelled misleading advertising. We read no complaint text, so that is a match of labels, not a finding.

CFPB enforcement searches for “gravity” and “wildhorse” returned nothing, and the Texas OCCC’s [enforcement table](https://occc.texas.gov/publications/legal/enforcement-actions/) lists no action against Wildhorse Financial Services. It does list case L23-00063 against Gravity Financial Services LLC, the property tax lender, closed 28 July 2023 as a “Final Order - Injunction.” The [order](https://occc.texas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/l23-00063_finalorder.pdf), signed 12 June 2023, says that company “did not file its 2022 annual report by March 31, 2023” and orders it to file within 30 days, warning of penalties of up to $1,000 a day for violating the order. It is a reporting order; it does not mention Gravity Lending, Wildhorse Financial Services or any borrower.

We found no state attorney-general action or lawsuit naming Gravity Lending or Wildhorse Financial Services and read no court filing, so this page describes none; a search is not a clearance. BBB’s site blocked our requests. Gravity’s home page claims “4.9 stars across 6,000+ reviews” without naming a platform, and its contact page says “We’re the highest-rated auto refinance company on the BBB and Google Reviews.” We could not check either claim.

## Where Gravity’s own pages disagree

Read side by side, Gravity’s documents disagree in ten places, several of them on exactly what a borrower needs to know.

**Gravity Lending’s documents, read 16 October 2026, set against each other and the record**

| Topic | One page says | Another says |

## Before you apply with Gravity Lending

- **Get your own numbers first.** Ask your current lender for a payoff quote and add up the payments you have left, so you compare totals, not monthly payments.
- **Expect a hard inquiry.** Gravity’s FAQ says so; do your other refinance shopping within a short window.
- **Get the lender’s name and contract.** Gravity names no lender; read the lender’s agreement and its itemized fees before you sign.
- **Ask for a same-term offer.** Gravity’s own example costs more at 84 months than the old loan.
- **Ask how the deferred first payment works.** Get in writing whether interest runs during the wait.
- **Price each add-on separately.** Get the total cost, the provider, whether it is financed and how a refund is paid.
- **Check the licence.** Texas lists it under Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC; ask Gravity for its NMLS number and your state’s licence.

A broker is one way to shop. A credit union or a direct lender may quote you without the middle layer; see our guides to [credit union auto rates](https://baronauto1.com/financing/credit-union-used-car-loan-rates/), [used car loan rates](https://baronauto1.com/financing/used-car-loan-rates/) and [preapproval](https://baronauto1.com/financing/car-loan-preapproval/). ## Common questions

### Is Gravity Lending a lender or a broker?

It arranges loans that partner lenders make. Its 2025 posts call it “a refinance brokerage” and “a broker,” and its Terms say availability “is subject to lender approval.” It also holds a Texas Regulated Lender licence under the name Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC.

### Is Gravity Lending legit?

The Texas OCCC lists Gravity Lending as the business name of Wildhorse Financial Services, LLC, licence 162084, now transitioned to NMLS. The CFPB lists 37 complaints against that company through 15 October 2026 and no enforcement action naming it. Whether an offer suits you depends on the lender’s terms and total cost.

### Does Gravity Lending do a hard credit pull?

Yes, by its own FAQ: “Gravity Lending will ‘pull your credit’ with a hard pull,” even though the application page is titled “Pre-Qualify.”

### What credit score do you need for Gravity Lending?

Gravity prints no minimum. It says it originates “for both prime and subprime,” and a May 2026 post says most lenders want a FICO score of 600. The partner lender decides.

### Does Gravity Lending charge fees?

Gravity says it charges no service fee and no documentation fee. Your new loan can include title transfer fees, a state fee, and GAP or a service contract if you add them; Gravity prints no amounts.

### Does Gravity Lending do lease buyouts and cash-out loans?

Its Our Process page says you can buy out a lease “at any time during the lease period,” and its contact page mentions “cash-out loans.” Its lease buyout page was empty when we read it and no page gives cash-out terms, so ask for them in writing.
