# OTD Calculator

## What this tool does

Enter the numbers from the quote in front of you — the agreed vehicle price, the documentation fee, dealer add-ons, government fees, your state's sales-tax rate and any trade-in allowance — and the page adds them up into the out-the-door total, itemised line by line, with the tax base shown and how much the fees and tax add on top of the agreed price. Two toggles cover the rules that genuinely vary by state: whether your trade-in reduces the taxable price, and whether dealer fees are taxed.

## Why nothing is prefilled

This site does not reprint fee amounts or tax rates, because a figure set in type goes on looking authoritative after it stops being true. Every input here comes from your own quote sheet and your own state's published rate — the tool does the arithmetic, not the guessing.

## Why there is no monthly-payment box

On purpose. A payment can be moved without moving the price — stretch the term and the monthly falls while the total rises. The out-the-door number is the one to negotiate, and it is the only number this page produces.
