Privacy Policy

Baron Auto is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins, no comment system, no newsletter and no shopping basket, which means there is very little about you for us to collect in the first place. This page sets out exactly what happens when you visit.

Last updated: 19 August 2026.

The short version

  • We set no cookies of our own and run no analytics or advertising trackers.
  • We do not ask for, collect or store your name, address, phone number or payment details.
  • Our web server keeps standard access logs, as effectively every web server does.
  • If you email us, we have your email. That is the only personal data we hold voluntarily.
  • Some pages link to third-party sites, which have their own policies we do not control.

What we collect automatically

Our hosting provider’s web server records an entry each time a file is requested. These logs are a standard part of running a website and are used for security and diagnostics — spotting attacks, finding broken links, and confirming the site is up. A log entry typically contains:

  • The IP address the request came from
  • The date and time of the request
  • The page or file requested
  • The HTTP status code returned
  • The referring page, if the request came from a link
  • The browser and operating system string your browser sends

We do not combine this with anything else, do not use it to build a profile of you, and do not sell or share it. Logs are retained for a limited period as part of ordinary server administration and then rotated out.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies. There is no analytics script, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no social media widget and no session storage. Nothing on these pages is watching what you read or following you to another website.

Because we set no cookies, there is no cookie banner and no consent choice to make. If your browser reports a cookie from this domain, something is wrong and we would like to hear about it through our contact page.

If you contact us

Email is the only way to reach us, and it is entirely voluntary. When you write to editor@baronauto1.com we receive your email address, whatever you put in the message, and anything your mail client attaches automatically.

We use it to reply to you and, where you have reported an error, to correct the page. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list, because we do not have one. We do not sell, rent or share email addresses. Correspondence is kept while it is useful — a correction thread, for instance, is worth keeping alongside the change it produced — and deleted when it is not. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.

Third-party links and services

Outbound links

Our guides link out to federal and state resources including NHTSA, the EPA, the FTC, the CFPB and the New York DMV. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site under their privacy policy. We have no visibility into and no control over what those sites do.

Affiliate links

Some of our guides link to a third-party vehicle history report service, and those links may earn us a commission if you use them. Following such a link takes you to that company’s website, where their privacy policy and cookie practices apply — not ours. We receive no personal information about you from them; at most we may see aggregate, anonymous counts of referrals. Every one of these links is marked as an external link, and several of our guides contain none at all.

Hosting and images

The site runs on standard Apache shared hosting. All images are served from this domain — we host the image files ourselves rather than hotlinking them, so viewing a page does not make a request to any third-party image server. That includes the photographs and the data charts, so no external party learns which of our pages you opened.

Children

This site is intended for adults researching vehicle purchases and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information a website holds about you, and to object to certain processing.

In practice, the only personal data we hold is email correspondence you chose to send us. To ask what we hold, request a copy, or have it deleted, email us and say so. We will action deletion requests for correspondence. Server logs are kept transiently for security purposes and are not indexed by person, so they cannot meaningfully be searched or extracted on request.

We do not sell personal information, and we have never done so. We do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising, because we run no advertising at all.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Because it is static and holds no user accounts, no database of readers and no payment information, there is no store of personal data here to breach. No system is perfectly secure, but the most effective protection is not collecting the data in the first place, which is the approach we have taken.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — for example, if we ever added analytics — we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly. There is no version of this site in which we start selling reader data.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or about anything else on the site, go to editor@baronauto1.com. Our contact page explains what we can and cannot help with, and our about page covers our editorial method, our data sources and how the site makes money.
